A dream that can't wake up

In Buddhism, there is a saying about the "four rotations of existence",

namely "death existence", "existence", "birth existence", and "original existence".

The last moment of death in the previous life is called "death existence",

and all the sentient bodies in the middle between after death and before being born in the mother's womb in this life are called "existence

".

The birth predestined to be mature and entrusted to the mother's womb, at the time of birth, the initial body is called "born existence",

and the life course from birth to death is called "primitive existence".

From being to being born, it can last as long as seven, seven, forty-nine days, which

means that the body can last forever.

During this period of existence, the karmic consciousness of the deceased

will go from coma to awake, and then from awake to coma.

He will meet his family and friends,

and experience various delusional states , as if in a dream.

- and the dividing line to start the spoiler -

this movie is a grand dream of the dead Henry,

the delusional realm that Henry experienced when he was in this state of so-called "in".

It would have been a good night.

Henry planned to propose to his beloved girlfriend in front of his parents.

Henry drove his car, carrying his girlfriend and parents,

to a romantic destination.

The diamond ring was lying in his pocket, his girlfriend was sitting in the passenger seat,

his parents were snuggling in the back row, and the four of them chatted happily.

He didn't want to have a car accident halfway through, his girlfriend and parents died on the spot, Henry was seriously injured, and

Henry was in great pain. He felt that everyone's death was caused by himself

.

The sound of arriving,

builds a grand illusion,

I want to save my relatives and loved ones through this hallucination and get their forgiveness.

This movie is actually shot of a fantasy created by Henry,

which is why this movie is difficult to understand,

because its logic is very lax.

Thinking about reality is always confusing, let alone a dream-like fantasy.

Think back to a dream you had recently, and

you'll see that the logic of dreams is just that -- there's

no logic.

I believe that many people have had such a dream.

There are very long ladders in the dream.

You want to chase someone, but you can't run all the ladders.

There are many ladders in the movie,

suggesting that this is in the In a dreamlike hallucination.

In addition, because the entire hallucination is Henry's,

in this hallucination, Dr. Sam, Dr. Sam's girlfriend,

all have Henry's shadow, and

he gives them meaning.

This explains why when Dr. Sam wakes up at the beginning of the movie with

a diamond ring in his hand,

at the end of the movie, we find that

the diamond ring was used by Henry to propose to his girlfriend.

In the fantasy, Henry's mother forgave Henry, the

blind father regained his sight because of Henry, and

his girlfriend didn't even know Henry at all,

and was with other boys.

Although the reality is bleak, in the final dream,

Henry got what he wanted most forgive.

It was a relief.

A friend with a big brain like me,

admit it, I really didn’t understand it the first time.

Please bring yourself into Henry's identity, look at it a second time, and

imagine: because of your own reasons, you will lose all your loved ones and

a lot of emotions at once, and you can feel it.

What really moved people in this movie was the atmosphere and artistic conception, and

what moved me in particular was this scene:

in the hallucination, Henry watched his girlfriend dance with another boy, and

his girlfriend's eyes were full of love for her dance partner,

and Henry outside the window was nothing but It was a completely irrelevant stranger,

and Henry, looking at his girlfriend, looked lonely.

If it were me, I would also make the same choice.

If the end of the person I love is with me and I die,

then I would rather not know him.

Floating life is like a dream, and

all the imperfections before death are

perfectly repaired in the moment of life and death, just like having two dreams in a row,

and then waking up from the dream and dying.

  • Henry Letham: Do you know the Tristan Rêveur quote about bad art? It's "bad art is more tragically beautiful than good art 'cause it documents human failure."

  • Sam Foster: [gesturing to the surrounding paintings on display] Are any of these yours?

    Henry Letham: Ouch.

    Sam Foster: What?

Henry Letham: Well... these are bad, Sam.
