It was a turbulent age, war, hunger, disease, natural disasters, the shadow of death shrouded the world, but could not block the light of dreams and hopes that flashed in my heart. Ordinary Japanese teenager Jiro Horikotsu (voiced by Hideaki Anno) is obsessed with planes cruising the sky.
