I have read the original book before, and the movie as a whole is loyal to the original book, which is quite good, but there are a few important bridges missing:
1. Hassan doesn't have a cleft lip, so the episode of Dad taking him for surgery on his birthday is missing, and a kite is used as a birthday present instead. The lack of this plot makes Dad's love for Hassan no better expression! It can't be better for them to be half-sisters!
2. There is no scene where the Hassan family was shot to death because they did not want to leave their old house. This scene is the most shocking to me in the novel. It is very touching. It really is "For you, thousands of times." ".
3. There is no scene of Sohrab committing suicide, which would not better reflect the humiliation he has suffered before! Like Dad Hassan, their pasts are shadows.
