After reading it, I specially revisited the first two Soul Conjuring before writing a review. There is no doubt that this is a failed sequel.
First, the director's skill is too poor, and the whole play does not create a sense of tension, life and death hanging on the line, and does not create a sufficiently terrifying atmosphere;
The second and most deadly point is that the story itself is very bad. The first two souls are the main line revolving around a family, with a secondary line to shape the Warrens (and lead to Annabelle and the nun respectively), the two lines interact, The plot is very full; and in this one, the family line is fragmented and even has no sense of existence, and the investigation process of the Warrens is shown in too much space, so that the plot can be said to be advancing in a straightforward manner, with no surprises and no surprises (after all, the old priest has It looks like there must be a problem at the beginning...), and the ending is even more ridiculous. The exorcism at the end of the first two films was a hard fight. The scenes were climaxes and they were very exciting. What is this film about? ? Throwing a big hammer back and forth dozens of times and then smashing the witch's altar and it's over?
Finally, when I read the synopsis, I saw that the real event in this adaptation was the first case where "being possessed by demons" was used as a defense for murder. I was also looking forward to the content of the trial, the confrontation between the theory of ghosts and the law of reason, and they wanted to How to prove the authenticity of demon possession? Will there be demons in court? Well, I guess the director didn't know either, so he simply stopped filming.
Originally, I just wanted to give two stars, because I gave a passing score for the love of the conjuring series, but I hope there will be no next one.
