The roles you were born to fill

Before watching it, I knew it was an inspirational movie for women, but it was still very different from what I imagined.
When Katherine has always been optimistic, smart and capable, Joan gave up going to Yale school and becoming a lawyer, she thought that Joan was like other girls because she had to take care of the family, but Joan Tell her that she is sober and won't regret not being a lawyer, because that's what she wants, to take care of the family instead of being a strong woman in career. In the end, katherine also blessed her, not reluctantly disappointed and powerless. I think this is what this movie wants to say "I wanted to make a difference ,but to change for others ,is to lie to yourself."
There is no the roles were born to fill in the world, not what katherine always wanted to change, Women are born to be housewives, support their husbands, and raise children; not every woman is a katherine. Everyone chooses what they really like and what they really want to be. You don't have to make compromises for the family and spend all your talents in the kitchen; you don't have to force yourself to be a career-oriented woman in order to cater to other people's eyes. And even Katherine has always wanted to do both. Katherines don't have to accuse the joans of selling their souls to become colonists. There is no depth, no thought, and the joans can continue to insist on themselves without forcing themselves to become katherines. Russell said that unevenness is the source of happiness. I think the same applies here. Just like the bad line in TVB said, the most important thing in being a person is to be happy.
As an inspirational film for women, when it comes to this truth, there are enough reasons to watch it. Maybe it is because there are too many characters, so that there are not many scenes with deep reflection after watching it, so I didn't end up without it. Give five stars.
Julia Roberts is beautiful inside and the view of the school is beautiful.

Connie Baker: I can see that.

    Betty Warren: Who?

Katherine Watson: My mother. I painted it for her birthday. Next slide. This is my mom. Is it art?

    Susan Delacorte: It's a snapshot.

Katherine Watson: If I told you Ansel Adams had taken it, would that make a difference?

Betty Warren: Art isn't art until someone says it is.

    Katherine Watson: It's art!

    Betty Warren: The right people.

Katherine Watson: And who are they?

Giselle Levy: Betty Warren! We're so lucky we have one of them right here.

  • Connie Baker: [reading from an advertisement] "When your courses are set and a dreamboat you've met, have a real cigarette! Have a Camel!" I've got my courses, I've got my Camel cigarette. Where the hell is my dreamboat?
