Raymond was paralyzed in an accident while diving into the sea. Originally handsome and strong, he will spend the rest of his life in torment. He has lived for 26 years in pain that ordinary people cannot understand, and he has been unable to understand the meaning of life. He repeatedly applied for euthanasia, but could not be granted. He invited Julia, a lawyer, who slowly agreed with Raymond's point of view. Unfortunately, she was also terminally ill, and the two cherished each other even more. After Julia promised to help Raymond publish a book of poetry, she died with him. A young woman learned about Raymond's experience and urged him not to give up her life and fell deeply in love with this unfortunate man. None of this, however, could bring Raymond back from the torment of paralysis. However, he was still waiting for Julia to say goodbye to the world together.
