"Confusion" after "precipitation"——I feel after watching "World Trade Center"

"World Trade Center", I have been watching it for a few days. I listened to the advice of an expert, and I didn't express my immediate feelings. As a result, after holding it for a few days, I suddenly found that the more I held it, the more confused I became. As a result, even the bottom of the bottle is gone. Alas—but, if you don’t write it, you’re not willing to lose an opportunity to practice in vain. Let’s just write about the “confusion” after your “precipitation”, regardless of whether it’s three-seven-twenty-one.
Fading Fading Touch
Oliver Stone is worthy of being a top Hollywood director. Although his recent works are indeed suspected of exhausting his talents, he made a movie that made people cry, especially when dealing with my emotionally rich and fragile, tear ducts. And a more developed audience, it's really easy. In the dark cinema, under the melodious soundtrack, and under the wonderful performance of the actors, I was indeed moved more than once with sore eyes and sore eyes.
Who would have thought, it's only been a few days, those wet tears, which can always inspire me with a few lines of words, will gradually dry out. I can't help but think of "Flight 93". There is no star lineup. It seems that the plain and objective news documentary, hiding praise and criticism, and avoiding the description of likes and dislikes, makes me feel a pain in my heart every time I think of it. I don't know anyone else to compare the two, but for me, "World Trade Center" definitely can't become a so-called classic in my memory.
What is the film trying to convey?
It is reported that "World Trade Center" has won two Hollywood Film Awards for Best Picture and Best Director in October. I don't know what other competing films are like, but according to the news, the most powerful competitor is "Pirates of the Caribbean 2", so I can only say that this is probably a general.
How should I put it, after watching the movie, I always feel that there is something wrong with the title, "World Trade Center"? I don't think it's more accurate to call it "Near the Dead". In short, I don't know what kind of movie Director Stone wants to make.
Looking at the title, it seems like a disaster movie. However, perhaps in order to avoid as much stimulation and harm to the souls of American audiences as possible, the disaster scenes in the film are indeed understated, and there is no shadow of a Hollywood classic. To be honest, The description of that apocalyptic human tragedy is not as shocking as it was from watching TV news back then.
However, this is also understandable. Perhaps the director just wanted to objectively record the impact of the catastrophe on ordinary people in the United States through the real experience of two ordinary police officers, through the perspective and feelings of ordinary people.
Therefore, the process of two ordinary policemen from standing up to rescue, to being in a desperate situation, to escaping from death has become the main storyline of the film. Then perhaps the thinking and discussion of human nature, death, life, hope, religious belief, etc. may become the theme of the film. If this is the case, this film is also a harmonious movement full of humanistic spirit, but it also composes a melody that is not very harmonious.
Who is the "hero" in the film? The one who finally found the trapped protagonist and saved him was a veteran of the US Marine Corps who spontaneously rushed to the scene. When the news that the World Trade Center was hit was broadcast repeatedly on TV, the veteran felt the call of God, and he decided to save the suffering people. Seeing this, it went smoothly.
But when the old soldier reappeared on the screen in a camouflage combat uniform, I looked at the resolute and persistent face, and what I heard in my ears was not the gospel of God, but a terrifying hell. roar. Maybe this is a representative figure. When the "9.11" incident broke out, in the United States, there should be such a flame of hatred and anger burning, otherwise there may not be the subsequent war in Afghanistan. It is understandable to express this hawkish power truly. However, the last line on the screen of this veteran who was called by God was a low and powerful "Go for revenge"!
It is said that Director Stone does not care about politics and does not want to express his political views clearly in this film. However, it seems that the thirteen expressed this time is not reliable. The humanistic spirit is still embarrassed by stubborn patriotism. At the end of the movie, I felt as if I was watching the domestic main theme film "Zhang Side" or "Life and Death Niu Yuru". Are you moved? There should be, but, why is it so unreal and unnatural, those tears seem to have been squeezed out by the director with both hands, as if someone whipped a few whips on the flesh, and it's strange that it doesn't hurt so much that you want to cry, But why so aggrieved?
It is a pity that Stone still turned the "9.11" incident into the disaster and suffering of the Americans themselves, and did not successfully transform the history of blood and tears of a nation into a collective reflection on mankind like "Schindler's List". It's no wonder that Stone's films have gone downhill, his pettiness and bigotry making "World Trade Center" nondescript.
The flash point that cannot be erased is
here, as if this movie is a bit worthless to watch, but it is not necessarily. There are lovely flash points, still let me aftertaste.
For example, at the beginning of the film, John, played by the nun Las Cage, was ordered to bring people into the World Trade Center for rescue. He had no pre-war mobilization, and he said that everyone should participate voluntarily. As a result, very few people actually joined. I especially like this detail, it is very real, there is no pretentious heroism rendering, in the face of life and death, individual people have the real freedom and autonomy to choose the way of respecting life, without any condemnation and criticism, without any promotion and praise , which is a detail worth keeping in mind. At any time, no one should force others to the so-called "recklessness" for any reason. And the so-called "disregarding one's life and giving up one's own self" must be truly voluntary. If the so-called mobilization speech is needed to inspire and guide, is that still a real "hero"? I don't dare to talk, let alone think about it, because this topic has reached the point where I can't control it.
Aside from the details that made me uncomfortable, the countless heartwarming scenes in the film are still remarkable, especially after the two protagonists are in danger, they become each other's spiritual pillars and encourage each other until the moment of rebirth. , let me understand what is life and death.
Unfortunately, how should I put it, this is not a "World Trade Center" that meets my psychological expectations.
I'm thinking, maybe Americans, and so many people's lives all over the world, have been more or less changed because of the "9.11" outbreak, so as time goes by, people's reflections on this world-changing event, Maybe still confused in the precipitation, so maybe many years later, it is possible for people to not simply get entangled in the surface layer of love, hate, and hatred, and then to sort out a real Apocalypse.
