Obsession

Although I have watched a lot of movies on this kind of rescue theme, especially the setting of sea and blizzard is very common!
Many movies I have watched recently are blizzards or sea settings, such as Krampus, which uses blizzards to set off a horrible and helpless atmosphere in the film. Another example is In the heart of the sea, of course it must be the sea! And at the end of the break point is the torrential waves, storms and small boats... and then it’s all the sea playing the boat between the palms...

To be honest, I’ve seen a lot of disaster movies before, and I watched it for special effects. The subject matter of course is not the special effects to watch this movie. Although the scene inside is also very good, it can give 6/10 points.

But since 1952, US coast guards have never done such a great rescue. I don’t know if they are “stupid” or brave. He always follows the regulations and doesn’t even answer the phone call of his fiancee... Finally, he saved 32 people and came back. . Alas, he said it was just because of lucky, it was God who was helping him. Everyone probably has obsessions in their hearts.

The love in this movie is very well described. Although there is no passionate scene at all, there are only a few kisses and hugs from beginning to end, but the mutual care of the two people is really vividly portrayed in the eyes. In fact, frankly speaking, even in the portrayal of love, this movie is nothing extraordinary. It may be because of my mood. I feel that the relationship between the two is very warm, very comfortable, and very quiet.

The self-salvation of the crew on the ship is also very shocking. At that time, I thought of a sentence, in the face of disasters, humans can only and must hand in hand.

More than 30 people in a small boat in a search... driving on the rough sea, when everyone has given up hope.

People on the shore turned on their car lights to illuminate the coastline, looking forward to it.

When they finally met, wept with joy.

This is the light of human nature.

I rarely write film reviews, probably very incoherent and very low...Haha hope it will be better in the future;)

The Finest Hours quotes

  • John Stello: The old man don't know what he is doing. He sends you out to die. You can't make it over Chatham bar on a day like this. You can't stay afloat with half a ship neither.

Bernie Webber: Well, Mr. Stello, in the Coast Guard to say you gotta go out. But they don't say you gotta come back in. That's regulation, you know.

  • Richard Livesey: Maybe we take these guys in and come back out.

Bernie Webber: We can't leave 'em out here alone. That boat won't last. We all live, or we all die.
