the truth of the matter

Recently, several new CCTV channels have popped up on the TV set-top box, and tonight happened to see Gore's famous environmental documentary - "An Inconvenient Truth" on the so-called Channel One.

Gore doesn't make a living for the Chinese. He was vice president for eight years under Clinton. At that time, he was familiar with Chinese IT people for his vigorous promotion of the Internet. Later, Gore and Bush Jr. ran for president. Under the condition that most people were optimistic about Gore, Bush and his slight advantage defeated Gore after checking the tickets. Gore has since stepped down from the political arena and became an environmentalist. Activists.

"An Inconvenient Truth" is a summary of Gore as an environmentalist for which he was awarded the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize. For this person who has lived in politics for the first half of his life, it can be said that he has lost the east and gained the mulberry.

Of course, some people say that Gore's motives for environmental protection are not pure. Take this documentary, for example, which is full of moral trials against Republicans and oil conglomerates, and the US refuses to join the Kyoto Protocol at every turn. I can't talk about this movie from the perspective of conspiracy theory or political background, because this perspective is far beyond my knowledge background and ability.

The narrative structure of this documentary is very interesting, it is actually Gore's speech. What's even more interesting is that Gore's speeches are linked together with exquisite PPTs, explaining a profound scientific knowledge in simple terms, humorous and very provocative. Gore's theoretical appeal is actually very simple, that is, the impact of global warming on human beings, calling on everyone to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and slow down the trend of climate warming.

However, in this world, PPT is probably one of the most unreliable things. When I was working for others, I devoted a lot of energy to producing PPT, "flicking" customers externally, and "flattering" the boss internally. PPTs are just arguments, or just tricks that, when organized properly, can shock your audience and get the results you need.

The reason why I say this is because we look back at the name of the movie again, an inconvenient truth. In other words, Gore's PPT is trying to reveal a truth. In Gore's eyes, this truth is a scientifically proven hypothesis that the earth is warming, with serious consequences.

I must admit that Gore's PPT is very convincing and the animation effects are shocking, but I have a strong resistance to being brainwashed by various people and governments at all levels for a long time. The global warming seems to exist objectively, but it is not so good to prove whether the consequences are serious. Whether it's Antarctic ice loss, sea level rise, hurricanes in New Orleans, coral bleaching, polar bear drowning, these results seem to be positively correlated with global warming, but there doesn't seem to be much conclusive evidence that the positive correlation is necessarily causation .

I tend to take an irresponsible attitude when it comes to issues like environmental protection. Because this question is too esoteric and abstract, I tend to take a stand-up attitude. In the words of the king of France, that is, after my death, there will be a flood. Of course, I am not at all environmentally friendly. For example, I support reducing the use of plastic bags, because I can see flowers of white plastic bags hanging on the treetops in Beijing in winter. I'm also in favor of small-displacement cars, because it really reduces human consumption of natural resources without sacrificing convenience. But if we say that if we are not environmentally friendly, New York and Shanghai will be flooded, and the earth will suddenly return to the ice age one day, as in the American blockbuster "The Day After Tomorrow", I really have no concept.

Having said that, I strongly urge people who haven't seen the movie to watch this movie. Just don't get too excited, too excited after watching it. The truth in this world cannot be grasped by everyone, nor can it be explained clearly in a movie. Everyone has their own interests, and his behavior must maximize his own interests. It is too difficult to ask a person's behavior to maximize the interests of all mankind. The philosophy of the ancient Chinese is relatively objective. If we can do what Confucius said, "Do not do to others what you do not want to do to yourself", then it will be great.
