It feels weird and confusing. It seems difficult to determine the central idea of the film, is it family love? dignity? Race? Neither seems to be. Just as I was about to follow one thread, the focus soon jumped to another. It seems that the original author himself just imagined a beginning and an end, and the middle story is filled at will. Leaving aside racial prejudice, this seems to be the first film in which I didn't feel the beauty of the characters, and because of the similar appearance, the character identification is prone to confusion, and it's hard to tell who is in front of me. Spielberg's presence is only vaguely felt in the camera movement and the soundtrack. But the beautiful pictures and beautiful soundtrack always linger outside the story. All in all, I don't think it's a great movie, and I don't understand why it's rated so high.
