Start by shooting the telephoto lens itself from filmmaking . Medium shot narration, medium to long shot transition. Close-up shot. Switch, rotate, pan, 3rd person fixed, 1st person fixed, tempo shift. Fonts, illustrations. Selection of toy displays. Decorative books, selection of animals. name. clock. 2:06AM.
All are excellent! Those alone can get good reviews.
actor. Little girls Fanning and De Niro. Really superb acting. Especially Fanning, her acting even makes me suspect that she is a sick child in reality.
script. Actually, I think the script is fine. (Frame)
But in terms of the director's arrangement, the rhythm in the front is very slow. The rendering is too heavy, which is a good thing, but until the last 5 endings are also completed. Still giving the audience a lot of questions unanswered. Can't even think about it.
For example, why is there water in the cave and the stump of a doll. Why is the butterfly in the palm of the hand, what does it represent, and why are there three dead? Why would Charlie be accepted there. Why the cat is dying. Why does Emily paint, why does she paint in her diary, why is the Charlie in the painting so different from the real Charlie. Why would you kill your own doll. Why is it always 2:06AM. Weird neighbors. Elizabeth, Amy, etc. These renderings are actually very good, but they can't stand up to scrutiny and questions, because there is no clue behind you, so you can justify yourself. In fact, I don't think the director can get it right.
As for the cause of the mother's death, the restoration of the dream is too brief. I think there should be more narrative and foreshadowing.
Of the 5 endings, I like the third one the most. Close the door, count. Although the plot can be thought of in the second half, in fact, if you think about it carefully, it is not just one person who is sick.
Of course the first ending is fine too. Just something missing.
Another person likes the paintings there, what a nice look. Similarly, the butterfly effect, Silent Hill, and the extremely surly pictures drawn by children in the Prophet are all my favorites~
In short, for the actors, the shooting techniques, and the foreshadowing in the early stage, I think 4 stars are the highest.
If the director invests more money and shoots a 1.40-hour film at around 2.25, I think it will be perfect.
And it doesn't need that many endings. One is enough. That is.
In fact, sick is not just one person, or two people. but 5 people~
