"Short Freshness"

Although this animation is not directed by Hayao Miyazaki, whether it is the characters in the animation, the style of painting, and the atmosphere, it can be seen that efforts are being made to move closer to Hayao Miyazaki. It might be a quip or a flattery to Miyazaki, but it really hits you and me with its imitations and moving soundtrack. The story in the animation is extremely tranquil, continuing the habit of Hayao Miyazaki's animation without complete villains. The whole "Little Man Arrietty Who Borrows Things" is as comfortable as a ray of warm sunshine in a summer afternoon. But under this comfortable appearance, a little unease can be seen. The hero's heart disease and the unpredictable future of the heroine due to moving house all make the story of the animation transition from one-sided to multiple-sided. It's a pity that this supposedly multi-faceted story didn't have a better extension, and the animation ended. The richness of details is a major advantage of Hayao Miyazaki's animation. For the new director Mirin Hiroshi, imitating Hayao Miyazaki pays too much attention to appearance and lacks connotation. Of course, we believe that the most important thing for Japanese animators is patience and perseverance.

The Secret World of Arrietty quotes

  • Arietty: I have to go. When is your operation?

Shô: The day after tomorrow. I'm going to be okay. You gave me the courage to live.

Arietty: [Unclipping the pin from her hair & giving it to Shawn] For luck.

    Shô: Thanks.

Arietty: [Now crying] You protected me after all.

    Shô: Arrietty...

Arietty: I hope you have the best life ever. Goodbye.

Shô: Arrietty, you're a part of me now. I'll never forget you, ever.

Shawn: I never saw her again. But the following summer I returned and was happy to hear the people in the house down the road talking about how many things in their home had gone missing.
