What we can't do to be happy without hesitation

Originally just wanted to see Maggie Gyllenhaal's old work, and was pleasantly surprised to find that it was James Spader who played the opposite role. Then everyone's praise is well deserved, huh, huh. It's very hard to watch online on Sunday night with extremely slow internet speed, but I still think it's worth it.

People are so easy to isolate themselves, we are all too careful to protect ourselves with self-torture.

It's surprising how thin James was in 2002, although I know his profile picture on imdb is pretty thin, I still prefer him when he's Alan (it turns out I don't like handsome men Oh, haha), the image in this film is finally quite the same as Alan, that silent look, that brief gaze, and that is, that insulated state of mind. It's alright alright, I didn't break it, Alan.

This film is really literary and artistic, plus it's really stuck today, the first half is infinitely long, but the rendering is still in place. It's a little verbose, but given the acting skills of the two, these are completely real.

It's not a very moving film (maybe I'm not in mood today), but a good film with a bit of an extreme expression. But very dripping, very in place.

Loved it from the time the heroine was fired until the end. The psychological portrayal of this section, whether it is the heroine's helpless attempt to the helpless acceptance of the marriage proposal, feels quite real. In fact, haven't we been in such a situation all the time? Out of the blue, Peter proposed marriage to me. I think i said yes, because i didn't know waht else to do? So, a lot of people got married like that, didn't they? So, I admire the courage of the heroine. Running away from the bride, not everyone can do it, right? What we usually do is to bury some impulses in our hearts, over the years, until we no longer notice them in our hearts, and then, we are all old, and that's it, right.
So, this is really a very literary and idealized film.

Again, recommend it.
Be happy without hesitation for what we can't do.

    E. Edward Grey: [Mr. Grey brings his lips up to hers before kissing her] Des Moines, Iowa.

  • [last lines]

Lee: [narrating] All our activities melted into an everyday sort of life until we looked like any other couple you would see.

    E. Edward Grey: [Mr. Grey teaches Lee how to make a bed] Turn that over, yes. Just pull it tight. Now, these pillows like to be stacked. Largest to smallest.

Lee: [narrating, as we see the two make love outside] Then, we honeymooned in the mountains. We only had the weekend because Edward had to get back to work.
