Since the 1990s, violent school shootings have come to the American public as a cultural phenomenon.
As of 2009 (and shocking shootings continued), Langman (2009) counted 74 deaths and 92 injuries in 10 RSS cases.
The first RSS occurred in 1966, when a Texas student shot and killed his wife, mother and 14 students. Then, in 1979, a schoolgirl shot and killed 2 adults and injured 14 students at the elementary school. In 1989, a 26-year-old criminal shot and killed five children and wounded 29 at an elementary school in California.
