Don't bow to prejudice, don't nod to hatred

In terms of genre, "Little Lolita: Uncle Monkey God" can also be regarded as a road movie, but compared to most "on the road" themes, it contains greater ambitions and deeper, more complex and diverse themes. To some extent, the tragic and unrelentingly tragic crossing of the national border completed by the male protagonist finally turned into a religious experience, translating the whole incident into a magnificent fable. The good thing is that the ambitious themes in the film are conveyed not through preaching but through feelings.

The emotions portrayed in this movie are, on the one hand, the simplest part of ordinary people, such as compassion and love for children; on the other hand, they are more noble aspects that we have been ashamed to express, such as respect for promises and beliefs. Persistence and tolerance towards others, even enemies.

The male protagonist has a kind heart, but belongs to a loser in the secular sense. Because of his respect for monkeys in his faith, people call him the monkey god. By chance, he met a lost girl who couldn't speak. In order to help this cute little loli, Uncle Monkey God began to lead her on an impossible journey. He decided to cross the border between India and Pakistan and send the child home from India.

As we all know, the smell of gunpowder from the India-Pakistan conflict has never really dissipated. Whether it is political or popular, the two countries have an unspeakable and complicated relationship. From this point of view, there is a bold and hard core in the setting of this movie, but a cute little loli is used to subtly soften the theme.

Strictly speaking, this little loli is a child from an enemy country. At first, no one knew where she came from. People instinctively thought that this pretty girl must belong to a higher caste in India, until the family watched the game and found that she couldn't help cheering for the Pakistan team. From then on, the director presented one of the cruelest wounds in front of people. From the perspective of human relations, people have a moral obligation to help this little girl return to the embrace of her parents. From the perspective of political reality, it is difficult for people to overcome the gulf carved by hatred in their hearts. But it was precisely after this that the director used emotions to defeat and dismantle political barriers and obstacles time and time again. The instinctive goodwill in human nature finally defeated the narrowness and viciousness in the mind. This is the root cause of this moving movie.

Uncle Monkey God took the little Lolita on the way home, which was actually a setting to upgrade monsters, and the two men became a kind of meaningful contrast. A child is an innocent and pure existence, which symbolizes what human beings should be. No matter what religion they believe in and which country they were born in, the judgment of good and evil of a person is determined by the person's own behavior, not by him. At the same time, Uncle Monkey God initially appeared as a partially ideological personality. He was entangled in various prejudices in the secular and political sense, but still retained his kind and simple side. When he got acquainted with little Lori and went on the road together, it was a process in which he shed a little bit from the shell of prejudice and gradually became a purer person. For example, in order to protect his children, he tentatively stepped into the mosque, even if it did not conform to his teachings.

Because the drama conflicts in movies come from deep-rooted prejudices, it is only when those prejudices are dismantled time and time again that people are moved. Because, originally, we all felt that those conscious and political barriers seemed justified. They have always been there, and no one has ever questioned or even explored the reason for their existence, no matter how absurd they are.

When Uncle Monkey God is hunted and beaten as an Indian spy in order to send his children home, he will see that there is a gap that cannot be bridged between secular prejudice and human sincerity. But in the end, after nine deaths, he won the crowds of Pakistan and India. The originally hostile two sides chanted the same person's name at the same time. All conflicts, disagreements, and common human emotions like this are like boring jokes. For many years, we have embraced our disagreements and greeted each other with bullets, falling into a kind of hatred that we don't know the reason for.

And this movie finally used love to resolve all barriers, inter-religious conflicts, political hostility, barbed wire on the border, and hatred deep in the hearts of the people. They were all resolved by a stubborn man and a cute little girl. NS. More profoundly, Uncle Monkey God did everything, but never at the price of penetrating his moral bottom line. He maintains an almost pedantic innocence, believing that he can influence the cold violent machine.

The direction of the movie is very clear, people will inevitably fall into prejudice, but as long as they have good intentions, they will not be completely captured by those ideological and historical barriers. When Uncle Monkey God upholds his own beliefs, but uses other religious rituals to show respect for each other, when the owner of the mosque smiled at him, a pagan, and said, "We welcome everyone", you will find those swords rattled. Under the appearance of humanity, there is always a warm current of human nature, which is sufficient for all the chills in the differences.

Of course, as an Indian movie, it inevitably adds two long song and dance passages, and the ending part is extremely sensational, but compared to the previous tribulations, that sensationalism can also be fully accepted. This wonderful work of sorrow and joy allows us to look back at all the narrowness that confines our minds, when we really cross those obstacles, and when we can really get close to the pure goodness of human nature.

Everything is as expected but still looks good. In recent years, Bollywood likes to talk about religious conflicts and people, and it can handle big issues properly. Coupled with singing, dancing and tears, it is completely powerless to resist. These are rare in genre films from other countries.
