Every Friday night is a happy drink and movie night. ?

Tonight I read a book about Alzheimer's disease called "Father Trapped in Time", played by Anthony Hopkins. My biggest impression of him is Hannibal, the sixth sense and the psychic detective. I feel that this little old man can play both good and bad people.

This movie was strongly recommended by my girlfriend. She also recommended me to watch a similar Korean movie about Alzheimer's disease called "Oh! Wen Ji, played by national treasure actor Luo Wenji. The Korean movie made me cry, but I didn't cry at all in "Father" except for the ending.

I think this has something to do with the narrative technique. The narrative logic of the book "Father" is very wonderful, with a feeling of a suspense film. The audience needs to discover the timeline and some hidden clues by themselves, and it is too late to worry.

The film "Father" has no sensational part. The director seems to be trying to completely restore the brain image of an Alzheimer's patient, so the entire narrative is chaotic and difficult to distinguish between true and false. However, this is the reality of the daily life of Alzheimer's patients. They live in suspense movies every day. It's really scary to think about.

The film's heart is some subtle clues and symbols, such as the painting on the wall, which looks like Lucy's nurse and the half-face sculpture in front of the nursing home. I don't know where the sculpture is, but I checked it online. I feel that this scene has an indescribable meaning. In the scene of Anne walking out of the nursing home, it is particularly eye-catching.

The part where the video makes my eyes a little wet is at the end—

Anthony's royal blue eyes flashed with tears, leaning on the shoulder of the nurse, saying that he wanted his mother to take him home, but all his leaves fell off.

At that moment, I don't know why, a movie "The Strange Life of Timothy" that I watched as a child suddenly flashed in my mind (nonsense association). The little boy in the film has leaves growing on his body. An important thing, a leaf on the leg will fall with it.

Sadly, the autumn is also qi, and the grass and trees are shaky and decayed.

How similar the withering of trees is to people dying .

After watching the movie, my girlfriend looked at me meaningfully, and it was really hard to find a good nursing home...

"The wind and rain hit me, and all my leaves fell off..." I cried while watching the last performance.

The theme is "Still Alice", but the multiple realities of the true and false superimpose the life of the father after Alzheimer's, and also add a sense of suspense to the family. Does Hopkins' performance deserve another Oscar? (I would like to call it a god whose acting skills are still online at the age of 84!

The Father quotes

  • The Woman: First... we'll get dressed, shall we?

    Anthony: Yes.

The Woman: We'll get dressed, and then we'll go for a walk in the park, shall we?

    Anthony: Yes.

The Woman: Good. The trees and all the leaves. Then we'll come back here, and we'll have something to eat. And then you can have your siesta, all right? And then if you're feeling on good form, we can go for another little walk in the park. ust the two of us. Because it's such a lovely day. It's sunny outside. And we have to go while it's sunny. We have to take that chance. 'Cause it never lasts long when the weather's this good, does it?

    Anthony: No.

The Woman: So... let's get dressed. Is that all right?

    Anthony: No.

    The Woman: Come on now.

    Anthony: No.

The Woman: Come on, baby. It's all right. Come on... Shh. Easy now. Easy. You're going to feel all right in a minute, I promise you. Everything will be all right.

  • Anthony: World is turning.
