I watch very few horror movies because I dare not watch them alone. The essence of a horror movie is the sound effects and the atmosphere it creates: you know the ghost is coming, but you don't know when it will pop up - that's when it's the most terrifying. So I'm betting with my roommate where she'll pop out of nowhere lol.
To put it bluntly, this story is a series of tragedies caused by a little boy who did not obey the norms of the audience. The performance venue cannot speak, let alone pierce the source of "magic" (because it does affect the atmosphere, see my first paragraph). Poor Mary Shaw, a real craftsman, became a murderer because of a question, and went into trouble.
The male protagonist's family is also really cruel, cutting her tongue directly broke her way of speaking normally and ventriloquism, no wonder her way of revenge is to cut her tongue.
The most terrifying part is not knowing who is a puppet and who is a real person, but the director handles the details very carefully, the old father's pale face and the two people's different speaking time, it is easy to find the ending.
One thing to say, the sound effects, the movement of the camera, the story logic are very good, there is no slot, and I did not expect that most of the horror movies I know very little are actually directed by Wen Ziren. New door.
