Fairy stories that have nothing to do with fairies

I was instantly attracted by the gorgeous big poster, and its name touched my curiosity even more. If there were only the word "strange", I would think it followed suit; if there were only the word "genie", I would think it was curious; if there were only the word "event book", I would think that the director had read too many Japanese manga. However, when the three words add up, a chemical effect occurs, causing me to have to press the "download" button.

There is a lot to praise in the film. For example, the provocative images at the beginning of the film: butterflies, jellyfish, lizards, pictures, and elves; for example, one person plays a little boy who is a twin brother, expressing two completely different personalities; another example is the exquisite 3D throughout the whole film. The animations are fascinating.

That's right, as a movie for kids, The Strange Elf Event Book is already good. However, compared to the same type of movies, it feels a little bit worse.

The story tells the story of a mother with three children who moved to a house left by her aunt in the country. The aunt was taken to a mental hospital for saying that her father was taken away by a spirit. JARED is not satisfied with moving to the country, he hopes to return to New York with his father, while his sister MULGARATH and twin brother are more able to adjust to the new life. In a life full of dissatisfaction with the status quo and mutual suspicion among his family, JARED discovers an amazing secret - a "Strange Elf Event Book". Because of his curiosity, he opened this book with magic. Since then, the magic has been opened, and the monsters in the forest have begun to move around, trying to snatch this book about elves...

The story is still the same, about courage, about family love. But I always eat this set, except this time.

After opening the book, JARED discovers the secret of the elf and begins a fight against monsters. When he was at the end of the road, he thought of looking for his aunt LUCINDA, so he found the nursing home where LUCINDA was located through the secret passage. But LUCINDA told them that the book must be destroyed in order to be redeemed, and only her father, SPIDERWICK, could destroy the book.

Until here, it's a story about a teenager's adventure. The next thing should be that the teenager went through all kinds of dangers, met all kinds of elves, got all kinds of tips, and finally found SPIDERWICK. SPIDERWICK destroyed the book, and at the same time, the young man defeated the big devil through wisdom, and everything ended happily. This is a traditional RPG mode. Although it is old-fashioned, it is exciting and thrilling. I believe everyone will eat this set.

But JARED didn't go through all the dangers, but opened the book and read a paragraph of text, summoned a "bird", and brought the three of them to SPIDERWICK. At the time, I thought, this is too easy, right? Sure enough, the book was replaced by the elf, and SPIDERWICK told him: The devil wants wisdom, and you have wisdom... The implication is: you should rely on yourself!

This episode did not bring much to the protagonist, except that "what the devil wants is wisdom", which can be regarded as a reminder, but at the end of the film, it does not show how much the devil desires this wisdom. In fact, the whole movie just tells us that the devil wants to kill all the elves, so he wants this book. But why did he kill all the elves? What threat did the elves pose to him? Nobody told us. Then this little episode can only be regarded as an almost meaningless clip inserted by the director in order to show the gorgeous 3D animation.

In the same way, such a terrifying big devil, who can kill all elves, was eaten by a wild boar elf who likes to eat birds because he turned into a crow. It makes people feel that this is too simple. Like a bad joke.

The name of the movie is obviously called "The Strange Elf Event Book", but there are not a few elves from the beginning to the end of the whole film, especially those delicate flower elves, I didn't even see their faces and the camera flashed, but those Ugly monsters often appear in the camera. Only the house elf and the wild boar appeared frequently, but these two elves were also quite unsightly. Isn't this a story about elves? Oh, it's a story about a book of elves...

Although the 3D is nice and the little protagonist is cute, this movie still disappointed me.

The process is developing too fast, and it is indeed a bit cliché, but there are indeed quite a few good movies these days.

The little boy is very powerful with one person and two corners~ It's just that the ending is too pale... There is no complete explanation for his father.

The Spiderwick Chronicles quotes

  • [Jared comes up with a plan to look for Arthur Spiderwick by using a griffin]

Jared Grace: [about Arthur] He had a pet!

Mallory Grace: A pet? And Fluffy the dog is gonna save us?

Jared Grace: It wasn't a dog. It was this, a griffin. 'When I call upon him in the native tongue of the tree elf with whom he dwells, he comes to my assistance.' See? His pet can find him.

Mallory Grace: Whoa, whoa, whoa. Summon a griffin, in native tree elf to find a 125-year-old man who may or may not be alive? That's our plan?

    Jared Grace: Mm-hmm.

Mallory Grace: And you know how to summon a griffin in native tree elf?

Mallory Grace: [Jared turns to the page on how to summon a griffin] Of course.

  • [Thimbletack encourages the kids to ride the griffin to Arthur Spiderwick]

Mallory Grace: What? You want us to ride that beast?

    Thimbletack: He's not a beast. He's a bird. He's a big-boned bird!
