A good director can make an unpleasant subject beautiful

First of all, I am a person who believes in science, and I absolutely don’t believe in anything behind the scenes, psychics, and the like. Mediums are almost liars. The opening of the film expounds such a point of view that after death, there is a heaven and a beautiful hereafter. This is quite annoying to me, it's almost a plot that only vulgar B-movies and TV series have.
But as the plot progresses, the film raises the question: If it's a fact that doesn't need arguing, why are you so afraid to talk about it? The spirit of science is to constantly ask and think. Even the so-called indisputable facts actually have their conditions. So, I began to patiently watch the evolution of this movie, until the last scene:
the psychic saw the only woman in the world who understood him, the only woman who could completely suit him. They are the natural best match. I understood the essence of this movie. Psychic is just a pretense, the real love is the "harmony" that we Chinese have been talking about. We Chinese (Chinese government) like to say that harmony is created, but in fact harmony is natural. Only natural harmony is most perfect.
This last love scene really touched me. And pushed the whole slow-paced symphony to a climax.
In this world, there is one person out of more than 6 billion people, and he or she is completely compatible with you. Isn’t this actually what Buddhism calls karma? This is heaven.
The director of the end credits sees Clint Eastwood. I really admire it. His understanding of movies can be slowly engraved with age, just like Tai Chi. (In the end, I almost believed in mediums. But still, mediums are really liars, remember everyone.)

Hereafter quotes

  • George Lonegan: I'm sorry, I'm losing him now. He's... he's leaving. He wants to leave.

Marcus: No, Jase. Don't go. You can't.

    [starts crying]

Marcus: Don't leave me. I don't wanna be here without you. Please, Jase, don't go. I miss you.

George Lonegan: Okay, he came back. He's here. He says if you're worried about being on your own, don't be. You're not. Because he is you and you are him. One cell. One person. Always.

  • Billy: Did you do the reading?

George Lonegan: Look, you still don't get it, do you? You think just 'cause I can make money doing this... just because I can, that I should do it.

Billy: [shrugs] Yeah, yeah I do. I also think you have a duty to do it, because you have a gift.

George Lonegan: It's not a gift, Billy, it's a curse.
