The heroine, a well-known host of a French TV station, encountered a tsunami and escaped from death, but since then she has the function of psychic. She was very distressed and decided to take a vacation to write a book, but was betrayed by her boyfriend and lost her job. The male protagonist living in the United States used to be a psychic himself, connecting with dead relatives for others. However, because of the too much pain in this job, he would rather work in a factory for a meager salary. They seem to be two parallel lines that are impossible to meet, but they meet because of a British teenager, Marcus. Marcus' twin brother was killed in a car accident when he went out to buy medicine for him. Marcus was in great pain and looked for a psychic everywhere in order to see his brother again. So a book fair held in London connected the hero and heroine through Marcus' thread.
The film is the second collaboration between old cowboy Clint Eastwood and Matt Damon to explore death and the continuation of life. It is a pity that the starting point is too high and the intention is too deep to find a good ending for the film or leave room for the audience to think. But in the end there is no conclusion. The narrative rhythm of the film is soothing and not procrastinating, and the atmosphere is quiet but not dull. Overall it's pretty good.
Matt Damon shows the style of a middle-aged man, plain, tough, and more and more flavorful.
