Manuela (Silya Love)'s husband left his wife before his son was born, and Manuela became a single mother and brought her son Esteban to Madrid. The son never knew about his father, so Manuela had to tell his son that his father had passed away. However, the son did not believe it after all. He quietly wrote down his thoughts about his father in his diary.
The accident happened so suddenly that the son was killed by an oncoming car. The mother was very sad and decided to go to the child's father, Lola, to fulfill her son's wish. However, she learns that Lola has changed into a woman, became a prostitute, and contracted AIDS. To make matters worse, Sister Rosa (Penelope) becomes pregnant with Lola's child. Manuela stayed by Rosa's side to take care of her, and Rosa gave birth to a baby named after her son Esteban. There was hope in the miserable days - this newborn actually escaped the bad luck of AIDS.
