Science fiction is just a cover, fate is the core

Simple sci-fi settings, there is no logic that needs to be scrutinized by the audience, and all theories are directly output, so sci-fi is just a cover. In the end, this is just a small-budget literary film.
Abandoning science fiction and watching the plot, a story of atonement, there are no surprises at all, you can predict the next step in advance. Especially the plot of atonement going to bed, especially bloody. The part where the male protagonist is choking the female protagonist about to be strangled to death and then letting go makes me want to fast forward. Fortunately, the open ending is not bad, leaving room for imagination-
first, the female protagonist on another earth did not kill anyone, but was simply chosen to participate in space travel. If so, the male protagonist would go to another earth. There will also be family members who are still alive. Reunion. I think so because the coat worn by the heroine No. 2 is not bad, not like a cleaner can afford. But when the heroine No. 2 saw the heroine, her eyes were not curious but sad, so this is unlikely.
Second, the female protagonist on another earth also killed someone, and the male protagonist's dream of seeing his family came to nothing. The heroine No. 2 came here with hope. Seeing herself dressed as a cleaner, she was desperate. The heroine originally thought she had been redeemed, and walked home briskly, but it was only an extravagant hope. Quite the taste of fate. No matter how you choose, what you should carry will always be carried, what should be met will always be met, and what should be lost is destined to be lost. Originally thought that the female protagonist told the male protagonist the story of the percussion in space, to express the use of love to resolve resentment, and to reflect the theme of "forgive", but in the end, I found that the theme was not "forgive", but fate and despair. The way the old black grandpa blinded his eyes and deafened his ears was a bit convoluted. The theme is slightly confusing and not appealing enough. The heroine's eyes are beautiful.

Another Earth quotes

  • Richard Berendzen: Within our lifetimes, we've marveled as biologists have managed to look at ever smaller and smaller things. And astronomers have looked further and further into the dark night sky, back in time and out in space. But maybe the most mysterious of all is neither the small nor the large: it's us, up close. Could we even recognize ourselves, and if we did, would we know ourselves? What would we say to ourselves? What would we learn from ourselves? What would we really like to see if we could stand outside ourselves and look at us?

  • John's Son: What rhymes with "light"?

    John Burroughs: "Light"?

Maya Burroughs: Oh, that's a good one.
