Background Introduction and Film Criticism--If the
British graffiti artist Banksy was born in ancient China, he must be a character who could be written in "Comics" by Sima Qian.
Otherwise, they should also appear in Jin Yong's pen, come from dreams, use the sword as a pen, dive into the night with the wind, and brush through the painting. After the matter is gone, he will hide his merit and fame deeply.
Real heroes are like this, everyone has heard of him, but no one knows his true identity. He has the energy to spur a million-dollar art market, but from time to time he opens up a mockery mode, swearing contemporary art without any dirty words. "Senior Black" is not my invented title, but his favorite nickname: quality vandal, senior vandal. Banks is so much like a man in the martial arts, even Westerners compare him to Robin Hood: he wipes the legal boundaries and does justice. Everyone knows that Banksy has been here once, but no one has seen it as long as he sees the little mouse that is gazing at the world on a street corner.
Many people in the underground art circle choose to remain anonymous. They are mysterious and safe. After all, graffiti is still illegal in many cities. However, few people, like Banksy, are completely anonymous in the Internet age. This is simply a miracle. You must know that Banks has long been in the contemporary art hall, not only holding large-scale solo exhibitions in London, Los Angeles and other places, but also making movies, publishing books, and even recently transformed a small British town into a super-large art paradise. Get global attention. However, for those who are curious about the identity of Banks, these are of no use. This person neither attends the opening ceremony of his exhibition nor accepts face-to-face interviews; he made a documentary, not only did he not show his face, but even his voice has been post-processed. In other words, even if Banks himself knocks on my door at this moment, I will only treat him as a takeaway...
It is strongly recommended that the police in major cities in the world take the following courses collectively: "Banks Identification", "Common ridicule of injury and prevention". Banks’ paintings can sell for millions of dollars in the art market, but graffiti is real civilian art and public art. The beauty of the underground nature of graffiti is that it can be copied, but there is no "original painting", regardless of copyright. Banks has traveled to the unexpected streets and lanes of various cities in the UK, Vienna, Los Angeles, New York, Barcelona, and Paris. However, many of his works have been obliterated by the city government that does not know the truth, and the opportunity to promote art tourism has been lost in vain. It is not ruled out that it is the authoritative department that becomes angry. After all, they are generally the targets of graffiti: a pair of male policemen kisses in graffiti, little girls search policemen in the reversed power relationship, peace pigeons wear bulletproof vests, Lenin combs punk heads, The Queen of England painted the lightning face of David Bowie...
such a figure, every time he announces every new plan, there are people in the world in a cold sweat. For example, he put two hundred live mice in an exhibition. For example, at the opening ceremony of his Los Angeles exhibition "Barely Legal" (Barely Legal), a living elephant painted pink appeared, showing 100% of the English proverb "Elephant in the room", as a metaphor for "turning a blind eye". As a result, the reporters present really all rushed to the elephant, turning a blind eye to other exhibits and issues, and being mocked by Banksy without realizing it.
For example, the recent hot "dark paradise" Dismaland, the combination of Dismal (negative gloom) and land (paradise), fools can see that they are parodying Diss... Hush, you know it, copyright lawsuits can It's not a joke. There is a sentence in the park tour description, "The following items are strictly prohibited from being brought into the park: graffiti jars, markers, knives, legal representatives of the Walt Disney Company."
Look at the trailer on the official website: "Do you think there is little in life? What's the matter? Do you want to go out more? Stop your work and welcome to the happiest place in the world. This is a unique theme park." A harmonious and beautiful family of four, in the dark paradise Had a contented day. The ending is also very happy, there is no black middle-class family values.
Oppose the abuse of the regime. against war. Against vulgarity. Oppose consumerism. Oppose the brainwashing of commodity logic...The graffiti man slashes the modern diseases of contemporary society. Different from the individualized expression of certain street graffiti, and the violent anti-intellectual tendency, Banksy's most unique feature is complexity: there are both the idealistic restlessness of young people, the cynicism of middle-aged people, and the wisdom of old age; If you think about it, you can find the origins of the anarchist movement of the last century, the social problems of the old British industrial areas, and the British Dry Humour's cold humor. To talk about why Banks has such a huge influence, I have to say that it is because he expresses his childlike innocence and loudly exposes the new clothes of contemporary art, which makes people drink ice like a hot day.
"Art is the biggest joke today."
"It is a sanctuary for the privileged, the poser, and the weak."
When Banksy's paintings were sold for high prices at Sotheby's auction house, an expert from Sotheby's contemporary art department agreed. A flattering sentence, "He is the artist whose net worth has risen the fastest in history." And Banks responded like this: He drew an auction scene, and everyone was vying to bid on a blank sheet of paper with a sentence written on it. : "You idiots will actually buy this shit."
If you feel worried about this sentence, then you must watch this Banksy movie: "Exit Through" (Exit Through the Gift Shop). The title alludes to this kind of people. You have to go to the museum gift shop before you finish watching the exhibition. If you don’t buy a Monet scarf or Van Gogh fridge magnet, it’s like nothing (actually I’m like this...) . This film under the title "Banksy Documentary" actually has neither Banksy's face, nor is it 100% sure that it is a "documentary"; and this ambiguous "documentary" won the best Oscar in 2011. Nominated for documentary. Of course, it is impossible to trick Banks out of the mountains in this way. Even if he wins the Oscar, he will definitely not accept the award... The
film begins with a solemn narrative. The montage passages, the interviews, everything went well.
Terry Guetta, an avid video enthusiast who emigrated from France to the United States, looks very cartoonish and speaks standard French English. Through his cousin, a graffiti artist, Terry broke into the world of graffiti artists and began to record their every move wildly. The great god Banks in the circle is Terry's ultimate goal. Under the arrangement of fate, one day this great god actually came to the door by himself, and the two began a happy career of cooperation. It wasn't until Banks discovered that this French follower, who had been claiming to be making documentaries, seemed to be not so normal in spirit...The subsequent development of the plot seemed to fly into the sky as if it had been knocked out of medicine. Banksy's unintentional suggestion changed the style of Mr. France's entire painting: Terry Guetta was transformed, and a new artistic star was rising.
Wait, is this film a "pseudo" documentary? It's really not my conspiracy theory. The speculation that the whole film is a prank has not been interrupted since the film was released. Apart from anything else, "Mr. Brainwashing" became popular overnight, and the direction of his life was too bizarre; the full sense of humor almost overflowed with this passage in the film, and the whole contemporary art satire. "Mr. Brainwashing" those "art works" that imitate/tribute/copy (whatever you say) masters, from Duchamp to Warhol to Keith Harring to Basquiat almost all the well-known contemporary artists you can think of... ...It's black all over. Not to mention the fact that they broke their leg before the start of the show, and the audience has queued for the show, but the plot that is too drama has not been laid out. If there is no script, it is really hard to believe.
Banks himself and Terry Guetta (at least his existence has been confirmed) have always denied the allegations of "hoax". In the past few years, Terry was sued for a copyright dispute over "artwork", which seemed to confirm the authenticity of the "Mr. Brainwashing" exhibition. The theory of the famous film critic Roger Ebert (who gave the film a high score of 3.5/4) is that the incident should be real, because which independent film director will find hundreds of extras and arrange A whole fake painting exhibition, isn't this crazy... Someone has found evidence. A few years before the movie came out, LA weekly reported on the exhibition of "Mr. Brainwashing". At that time, he said that Banksy's film was "under planning."
But I just think all this is very unreal. I think the story of Guetta, Petit France, is true, and his exhibition is real, but "Mr. Brainwashing" is probably a virtual personality performed under the direction of Banksy; his paintings may be Banques. A parody by X (and perhaps Shepard Fairey). The exhibition was really held, but the auction record was not as evil as in the film. The film exaggerated the artistic influence of "Mr. Brainwash". The goal is to use a half-truth and half-false pseudo-documentary to ruin the hypocritical contemporary art market, and by the way mock all audiences, journalists, art critics and art collectors who don't know how to pretend. While they seriously appreciate the "imitation of imitations", Banks used the parody of the movie genre to raise the ultimate questioning of art.
In the above paragraph, the princes do not believe it. Because my only evidence is sentimental-at the end of the film, Terry painted the wall "Life is Beautiful", and crashed down. I got a chill in my back... Is this a joke? If so, who is the joke on? Nihilist Banks, is there anything he can't mock?
In 2003, during an anti-war demonstration in London, Banksy mixed in among the crowd and handed out stickers: "I don't believe in anything. I'm just attracted by violence." (I Don't Believe In Anything. I'm Just Here for the Violence.)
But two years later, he went to the West Bank and drew two children on a security separation wall in Bethlehem. He opened a window and opened a beautiful landscape that did not exist.
Open the list of participating artists on the official website of "Dark Paradise". In addition to Europe and the United States, more artists come from Israel, Iran, Syria, and Palestine.
Who is the joke on? It may be the order of power, it may be the art market, it may be Disney, it may be the happily taking photos and uploading in "Dark Paradise", or it may be you and me, but not those who really suffer from poverty, war, etc. people. I would like to believe that under Banksy's cynical appearance, there is a heart of compassion; it's just that this world carries so much anger that he can't show his sincerity/face.
Life is beautiful… or at least we wish so.
