broken life

I thought it would be a love story between a widowed male protagonist and a single mother, but it was not. The single mother played more like a listener, helping the male protagonist to understand himself and break the life he was originally dissatisfied with. The male protagonist didn't love his wife originally, and was dissatisfied with the job his father-in-law arranged for him that he didn't like. After his wife died unexpectedly, he had a chance to re-acquaint himself and choose a new life. Recalling the bits and pieces of his wife, and realizing that he had neglected and hurt his wife, the grief of losing his wife came slowly at this time. The movie depicts the emotional changes of the male protagonist very delicately, and Jake Gyllenhaal also interprets it very well, which is not even stronger than those routine love movies. The movie tells us that in a numb life, especially a numb life with dissatisfaction, people tend to ignore their true emotions, ignore what they really want, and ignore some cherished people and things in life, so Only by examining your own life and emotions in a timely manner and breaking your usual habits and ways of thinking can help you grasp life, and you will not regret the loss of some precious things.

    Chris: You fucking my mom?

Davis: No, I'm not. We were just sleeping...

Chris: [interrupts] She's fucking crazy. If you haven't noticed, she's a fucking pothead. She calls it cannabis 'cause it makes her feel like less of a fucking pothead.

Davis: You say fuck a lot.

    Chris: So?

Davis: So you're just not using it properly.

Chris: The fuck does that mean?

Davis: That's what I mean. Fuck is a great word, but if you use it too much then it just loses its value and you sound stupid.

    Chris: Fuck you.

Davis: Exactly. I feel nothing and you sound like an idiot. Have a good one.
