"After get off work": Life is just an absurd journey

Many movies cannot be generalized or described. In fact, when you think about it, the movie itself does not need to be generalized or described. The reflection of emotions or characters in the movie itself is the luminescence of the audience's hearts. When the audience is enjoying the movie, it is so in their hearts, and when they start to talk about the movie, it is still the same. I often say that watching movies is a very personal matter. In fact, it is true. The divorce and absurdity in the movie is an insight that is loyal to the private. In many cases, it is impossible to tell clearly, and the viewer has its own mind.

Roger Ebert once said that Martin Scorsese's interest in directing a movie is far greater than his ambition. He doesn't seem to care about money. He defines success as being able to make the movie he wants to make.

My attention to Martin should start with "Taxi Driver". In fact, I am not very interested in the story of "Taxi Driver". The story of this movie is not difficult to understand. However, what makes me addicted to this is Martin's portrayal of a city. He is very good at combining cities, stories and characters to build a world that is closely related to real life.

In Martin Scorsese's films, "After get off work" is not well-known, but in his entire creative process, the importance of this film cannot be ignored. Faced with such a ridiculous movie, I admit that it is difficult for me to write an article that is tangible. There are many things I want to write, but it is a bit tangled in my throat.

In the middle of the film, I always feel that "After get off work" is full of Kafka-like temperament, because Kafka's works are also so absurd, full of metaphors between the lines. Of course, "After get off work" is not as obscure as Kafka's works, but rather interesting. Many of Kafka's works seem to have a loose structure, but in fact they have a very clear ideological nature. Such a heavy weight is not suitable for Martin's movies, let alone "After get off work".

From a realistic point of view, "After get off work" was born after the box office failure of "The King of Comedy" and the delay in the production of "The Last Temptation of Christ". Perhaps it was the "unsatisfactory" of these two films that made Martin decide to make a moderate comedy as a buffer. Although "After get off work" is a standard comedy, it is also an underrated movie. The protagonist of the story encountered a series of absurd things on an ordinary night. In this inexplicable night, he was constantly humiliated and tortured.

The clever thing in the film is to use a character to outline a group portrait of the lowest social group, such as robbery, self-abuse, marital violence, etc. These elements all occur in this absurd area, and are even commonplace. Crazy, gradually spreading from personal fate to the entire area, in this area, all the marginal characters, paranoid, and deviant people in Martin's movies seem to live here, and those who strayed into this place will also step into a person who makes themselves. Crazy extreme. At this moment, Martin is hiding in the shadows of poor streets and alleys to watch, and from time to time he pushes the hero into desperation. As the movie continues, the actor finally feels that he is out of place and understands the horror of group delusions.

In fact, from another perspective, in this dark and poor alley, everything is cut off from normal society. Many people living here are labeled as loneliness, and their way of looking at loneliness is to All resentment and mania are vented on outsiders. Therefore, the actor will meet hysterical people one after another. These people live in a small space and think that this is the world that should be there, but they ignore normal life.
The film seems to be full of contradictions. In fact, it is more like a process of searching, as if the male protagonist always wants to go home. The film still talks about a question about "homecoming". There is no so-called standpoint in the whole film, it just drifts away from the dark streets, slowly approaching a certain core area.

"After get off work" seems absurd, but in fact it is more direct to face reality. Some people and some things seem simple, but they are meaningful. Life itself is an absurd journey, where there is violence, conspiracy, deception, desire, and similarly, there is a destination.
