It Happened One Night and Roman Holiday

When it comes to "It Happened One Night", we can't help but mention "Roman Holiday". The two films are very similar in terms of plot and character. It is not an exaggeration to say that the latter borrows from the former, pays homage to the former, or even plagiarizes the former, but in all fairness, in In the hearts of the majority of movie fans, "Roman Holiday" is still slightly better.
We can't say that "It Happened One Night" was terrible just because it was filmed early; nor can we say that the plot of "Roman Holiday" has no breakthroughs because it was filmed late.
The main difference between the two is the ending:
the princess in "Roman Holiday" is still the same princess, and the poor reporter is the same poor reporter. Nothing has changed, but a beautiful and touching love story remains.
And "It Happened One Night" is different, the wayward rich girl becomes understanding, the poor reporter succeeds, everything has changed, and even that beautiful and touching love story is about to enter the grave of marriage.
"People who love each other can't be together" is actually more deeply rooted in people's hearts, and more able to arouse people's regret and resonance; and the outrageous episode of "Diaosi counterattack and marry Bai Fumei" can only make us "hehe".
"At the heart of comedy is tragedy"—Roman Holiday does this well, but It Happened One Night didn't.
