I'm the town resident in the movie

The essence of the film is the entire process of the sheriff's failed mobilization. I don't think all of them are unjust, there are some who are willing to come forward.

However, this is a game process, and it is very unwise for individuals to stand up and play heroes when most people are shrinking. Although the film ends with the hero winning, in reality the result must be the opposite.

If I were a town resident, I have to say, I would not help the sheriff either, because the time is not yet ripe, and I will probably become another person's blood buns if I go up there. The same fate as Jiang Wen in "The Devil is Coming", That's all.

SIFF2017, Westerns prefer free cowboys, but this one takes a different approach with the sheriff as the protagonist. A tense hour followed by a raging gunfight and a predictable ending. An impeccable movie, a kind of culmination of the dilemma of "the one who has the right and the little help". It's not that everyone doesn't know the "Tao", even if everyone knows that you are doing the right thing and you are doing the right thing, but no one is willing to help you, or even taunts and obstructs in every possible way. The weak only look at the pros and cons, and only the strong can insist on right and wrong.

Joe: I knew you had guts but I never figured you for brains. It takes a pretty smart man to know when to back away.

  • Will: Don't shove me Harv. I'm tired of being shoved.
