1.120 frames are very real, at least I think the picture is not good-looking, just clear. But it's not like the movie I remember, it's free from the alienation and dream-like state between people and movies that 24-frame movies bring, the kind of tones or light and shadow that can be extremely stylized. But here, it is more like watching a large-screen high-definition camera shooting a scene DV when I was a child. The scene is even very simple, and the color tone completely follows the reality.
2. The plot is indeed very simple or even too monotonous. We have seen many such stories, and there is no freshness, and this story lacks stamina. As a loyal fan of Ang Lee, I love his five films "The Wedding Banquet", "Diet Men and Women", "Lust and Caution", "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" and "Youth Pie". I will revisit it every year, and these movies are quite stamina and unforgettable. But "Gemini Man", after a year, I only remember that it was 120 frames, and it didn't resonate at all.
3. Speaking of computer technology, the young version of Will, which is completely digitally produced, is 100% invisible in the dark night scenes where most of the film does not speak. But as long as they speak, most of them feel that they are digital characters, mainly the movement of the head and eyes, and the movement of the lips in the human body, which will subtly offset the real person. When it appears in the sun, it looks like a 3D digital character at first glance, creating an uncanny valley effect. It can be seen that the technology wants to rely on reality, but the combination of sunlight and texture has not been able to cross.
4. Some of the fighting movements and camera movements remind me of "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon", which is agile and elegant, very smooth. Ang Lee is really not suitable for making science fiction films, or in other words, science fiction films defined by the public. The sci-fi scenes in the whole film can be ignored. Even if I have watched this movie with the mentality of watching the game cutscenes, I am still disappointed, although this is not a bad movie.
5. But Ang Lee is already a director going into the technical field. Maybe he wants to bring something different technically to everyone. He is one of the few Chinese directors who can make films that can always stay above the passing line, and he also has his own humanistic feelings. I'm looking forward to his next movie, just want to see him make another Chinese story. come on! Uncle An! The director's dream enlightener of my childhood.
