Before I saw victor trying to resurrect Sparky, I was thinking of Stephen King's "Pet Cemetery". The same pet puppy died unexpectedly, and it was resurrected out of the same thoughts. It's just that what was resurrected in the pet cemetery was an evil creation, and what the victor's lightning recalled was the smart and human sparky.
This made my previous worries about "watching ghost movies" less than half. After all, it is Tim Burton, his darkness is always tender, and his repression is always hopeful.
A very good movie, suitable for people who like dark lines and gothic.
The only thing that strikes me as lacking is the ending - dad and the others actually support sparky again. This maybe a deliberate happy ending really made me feel a little abrupt. After all, it's only 80 minutes, enough time to convince victor to "let him go".
I think sparky should be let go. When I first discovered sparky's resurrection, my dad said:...but what you did is a serious thing, crossing the boundary between life and death, reanimating a corpse...I
always felt that life and death were clearly demarcated, even if like Light and shadow are inseparable, but they are two completely different worlds after all. Any form of communication is contrary to common sense. While such transgressions can be beautiful, they cannot last.
Just like zombie brides, they finally return to their respective worlds, dust to dust, dust to dust.
Maybe Burton has some other ideas, so look forward to his next work and explain it more clearly!
