This independent film shows this group. Most of the people here can't find a regular job. They are doing the lowest-level things and barely maintain their current life. They can't rent simple houses, they can only rent the cheapest cheap hotels, and they have become the common sight of these colorful castles. resident.
1. The more beautiful, the sadder
The overall color of this film is very bright, because the whole film is developed from the child's point of view. But the creators didn't shy away from some grown-up questions. From those casual shots and conversations, we can still learn about the situations and experiences of these people: dropping out of school, early pregnancy, fighting, prostitution, many people cannot escape.
Like our protagonist, the underage mother Harley, who danced in a nightclub and didn't want to provide special services, was dismissed by the boss for reasons. Because of the criminal record, I can't find other regular jobs. Reselling scalper tickets, reselling perfume, aren't these the same group of people we often encounter near tourist attractions? The development of the hitchhiker does not seem to be a good ride.
Second, the more beautiful the more sad
The "Magic Castle" where Mooney lives has purple walls. Several of their naughty children were playing in the entire corridor. They know what the people in each room are like, they're hated by most of the tenants, they're too naughty, they're too loud, but who doesn't like them? They gave this sad castle the color of sunshine and the sound of vitality.
Purple is a complex color, it is a mixture of red and blue. It is also the color of contradictions, passion and indifference, joy and sadness, beauty and cruelty, all mixed together. Beautiful makes people forget that many things are one. The happiness of a child may be based on the burden of adults. Although Harley has nothing, she tries her best to keep Mooney happy, protect her, and guard her, so a group of people, such as the owner Bobby, Will not deliberately embarrass her.
3. The more powerless, the stronger
But the further back, the purple came out less and less, the sunset and the night appeared more and more, the little luck in their lives was gradually shattered, but Harley still wanted to persevere and took Mooney to the place. Playing wildly in the rain once, taking Mooney to eat once, resisting the rules of the Children's Administration once, and finally accepting it quietly. The further back, the more blurred everything around, let us appreciate Halle and Mooney, and cherish them in the end.
Some people criticize Harley for not teaching Mooney well, but Harley herself is also a minor. She may not have experienced any teaching and education, and how can she be able to take good care of Harley. Living on relief is the norm for Halle and the others. But they are also ordinary people, they have shortcomings and bright spots. With its own past and its own way of living, we cannot comment.

So Harley's final hysteria, Mooney's departure from her friends, seemed so moving. Really, I haven't seen such a moving ending for a long time.
Children's movies are not easy to shoot. Many people forget what they looked like when they grow up, so the children they shoot are easy to be artificial and empty. Fortunately, we still have some independent movies, so that we can get back the original moving, the most real childlike innocence.
