The reason for watching this movie is very simple, just want to find out. Why are so many people recommending a movie, but so many people complain that this movie is not worthy of being recommended.
Maybe I don't have a deep analysis of this movie, just talk about my personal views on the film's aesthetics and the views behind the story.
First, let's talk about the quality of the film.
The color matching of the film is exaggerated, and the high saturation is also very natural and comfortable. Exaggerated colors are the biggest feature of this story, everything can be magnified in summer.
Rich purples, striking reds, rich greens and pinks. The combination of these colors gives the whole film a fairy tale feel. It's definitely worth watching for the beauty of the movie.
Then there are stories.
The story takes place in a motel near Disney, in a place closest to the dream, but on the edge.
In fact, after watching the whole film, it seems that there is no particularly complete story line. It is the crushing of emotions on everyone, and the fragmented shots and fragmented scenes bring the entire film.
good
I really liked the scene where the janitor stood in the corridor smoking a cigarette, looking at the many rooms across from the room with the lights on. There is a feeling that I stand alone on a high place and watch the lights of thousands of homes. Admin is also one of my favorite roles.
He seems to represent all the fierce kindness in the world and all the warmth in the world.
His help and care again and again have a hint of God's perspective.
Chasing out child molesters and helping Halley and Moonee, he's a good example of integrity, but he can only help as much as he can.
He can't change anyone's mind or fully protect Moonee's growth, just time and time again, he takes everything as his responsibility.
contradiction
The character of Halley, a single mother, is my most contradictory interpretation of the film. I think she may be a contradiction in herself.
I have seen a lot of the same comments about her: "laugh at the poor but not at the prostitute".
I have no more approval or disapproval for this comment. I just want to say that such a role reflects the epitome of many societies.
Regarding living hard, I dare not say that she did her best, but I also dare not speculate on her life.
She may be a foul-mouthed person, and some people question her character, but she must be a loving mother.
Until the end, I don't know if Halley regretted having her daughter, and if she did it all over again, would she have made the same choice?
simple
Children are always pure, and everything in them can be shaped. And the little girl Moonee's words and deeds are influenced by her single mother.
Her childhood was a savage growth.
But Moonee is another representative of precociousness. She can switch quickly between being cute and surly, doing bad things with her friends, and staying by her mother's side.
"I can see when adults want to cry."
She deeply understands the state of mind of adults, and the perspective of a child is the best perspective for observation. From not understanding to understanding, it is very vivid.
Moonee and his good friend didn't know each other, and later became each other's best friend is the best description of childhood in the whole movie.
They lived in the hotel closest to Disney, but they never went to Disney once. For them, that colorful fairy tale paradise is an unattainable dream.
But at the end of the movie, they ran to the paradise hand in hand, refusing to separate, which is the last tribute to this image, summer, paradise, is a dream that can have anything.
In order to avoid spoilers, some plot understandings are not discussed separately. The filming of the film interspersed with reality is ironic, but at the same time, it is also full of hope.
