The total length of the movie is 2 hours, and it looks like 5 hours after watching it

Low-production director Alexander Payne finally has a new film, "Shrunk Down ," which premiered at the Venice Film Festival last year. As a Payne fan, this is a must-see. However, the evaluation is not very optimistic.

Although the score is very touching, but because it is a director I like and a subject I am interested in, I still watch it.

The first 20 minutes felt fine. Nothing great, but nothing wrong. Ordinary Hollywood sci-fi blockbuster rush. The scene where the male protagonist goes to the hospital to shrink down is commendable, pure white tone, smooth camera movement, and the soundtrack, there is an elegant rhythm . For a moment it reminded me of 2001: A Space Odyssey. (Does the shaving part look like the beginning of "Full Metal Jacket"?)

The male protagonist finished shrinking, but the wife flinched. Well, this is a good point. The husband shrinks to 12 centimeters, how should the wife deal with it? It's going to be exciting and dramatic.

The male protagonist lives in a luxurious castle, but without his wife, he cannot be happy. What about going to Lilliput together to be rich?

Then he met his upstairs neighbor, Christopher Waltz, who often made noise. By the way, let go of myself.

I woke up and met a Vietnamese girl again. It turns out that in Lilliput, not everyone is happy, there are still gaps between the rich and the poor and racial differences. Some live in big castles, some live in slums. The Vietnamese girl showed her humanitarian spirit and helped many poor people like her. The male protagonist was deeply infected and joined the humanitarian relief operation together. (The main activity is to act as a delivery boy and a cleaner).

It turns out that there is another world in the small country, and it is no different from the previous world. Previously immersed in the grief of losing his wife, the male protagonist, who had no pursuit, finally found his purpose in life!

But wait, go back and take a look at the synopsis.

"The mini-husbands and wives began to discord in many ways, and the relationship between the husband and wife became strained."

? ? ?

There seems to be no wife here. And it has nothing to do with the subject of shrinking . It doesn't matter, the video is still long, take your time.

Suddenly, he said that he was going to the village of origin in Norway and started a journey to find his roots. Do you want to go back to the road theme that Payne is good at? Go back to the place where the villain was originally born and find the meaning of life?

At this point, I have left my wife, family, and family out of the sky, let's see how you can make it up!

The technical possibility of small people travelling to northern Europe in a shrunken yacht is not on the table. In short, the villains there warmly welcomed them, and broke the news: the earth is about to end .

? ? ?

This gang of Norwegians came up with something similar to Noah's Ark, buried deep in the ground, and human beings rested and reproduced, and then returned to the earth after the catastrophe (about 8,000 years).

My god, it's so exciting! ! Who would have thought that the plot would be so magical.

The male protagonist almost went underground with them. He said that this is the best way to contribute to mankind. Isn't he simply trying to survive? At the last second, he regretted and expressed his true love for the Vietnamese girl, or saving those who need help on the earth, which is more valuable in life. So he went back to be a free delivery boy again. wtf.

Although the plot of the film is twists and turns and dangerous, it is more like a reckless combination of several movies, rather than one movie.

More than 2 hours of movie, like 5 hours after watching it.

Although it is a science fiction film, the internal logic of the story is chaotic, and many places cannot be justified .

The relationship between the male protagonist and the Vietnamese girl came unexpectedly, as if they were forced to have a love scene .

The male protagonist's wife, family, and friends seem to have never existed at all, and are not mentioned later.

Population expansion, environmental problems, and climate problems are all forced into a story frame, which inevitably makes people look indigested.

What a shame for such a good subject. In fact, if the filming is done according to the introduction, it may be not bad to talk about how the husband who has become smaller gets along with his wife, and the embarrassment and dilemma he faces. That's a pure comedy.

It is said that the script for this film came out in 2009. At the beginning, Payne planned to use Tom Hanks as the male lead, and he gave the screen impression of an ordinary middle-aged man in a special situation. It's a pity that 15 years later, Hanks is getting old.

The male supporting actor, Christopher Waltz, is still the way he is good at acting. Whenever he plays an ordinary person, I will suspect that the character will turn black at any time.

Zhou Hong, at first thought the role was interesting, but later her invariable exaggerated movements, expressions and accents were annoying. Payne wanted to satirize the problem of discrimination against ethnic minorities in the current society, but stereotyped the image of a Vietnamese woman .

Such a film is magical enough to be made, and even more magical is that it also won the Golden Lion Award and a female supporting nomination at the Venice Film Festival.

After complaining so much, I still have to praise it in the end. The last eight kind of fuck conversation was quite interesting. Vietnamese girl, you know it very well!

If this film was made by a third-rate director, it might feel good, but with Alexander Payne, everyone thinks it's hopelessly rotten.

As far as the film itself is concerned, it is still worth watching. Not suitable for Payne's veteran moviegoers, but for the average audience, the film does bring some fun.

3.5 I especially like the reverse thinking of the first hour and a half, the expansion of immigration into space, the "shrinking" was compared with death intentionally or unintentionally by the husband and wife, making shrinking into an alternative post-human state. The discussion of narrowing human rights and obligations extends from paying taxes to saving all of humanity, but what exactly is human at this moment? Payne continues to discuss this broad but far-reaching topic with great humor. I don't really like the last half hour.

Very novel themes and angles, more attractive. The relationship between the male protagonist and his wife is very realistic, and the story of meeting the two female protagonists later is a bit touching. The shrinking world also has shanty towns and the gap between the rich and the poor. The second half is a bit chaotic as a whole, but it’s not bad. 6 points can be
