A fantasy movie, of course, does not mean that the step of shrinking is fantastic, but that the encounter between the protagonist and the Vietnamese woman is very strange and fantastic. Illusion means fake, like a dream, an unreal American dream.
Many details in the film are just a kind of cultural brainwashing. I feel disgusted when I see this kind of deliberate and forcible indoctrination. I believe that not only do I not believe in this American dream, but even native Americans do not believe in this American dream.
This is simply a fairy tale, a fairy tale of a dead man.
