When I saw the name of the movie "Love in August", I thought it was just a movie about love. In fact, it is not the case. Love does not account for much of this. Instead, it is probably music and family.
In this film, music is used as a clue throughout, making music and emotion perfectly integrated. The heroine Leila is the cellist of the New York Philharmonic, and the hero Louis is the lead singer of a band. They met and fell in love quickly on a moonlit night, and they made an appointment to meet again the next day. But fate is so tricky. After an unforgettable night, Laila's father forced Laila to continue on the concert journey. At the same time, Louis left sadly because he did not wait for Laila's arrival. . It's been almost twelve years.
Unbeknownst to Louis, Laila was pregnant with his child. A few months later, Laila was involved in a car accident and was told by doctors that the child had died, but it was actually Laila's cruel father who sent the child away. This child is the boy who directs the wheat to sway in the wind at the beginning of the film. His name was Evan, and he was a musical prodigy. Seeing this makes me sigh: wow! It turns out that a one-night stand between a classical musician and a rock singer can give birth to a gifted musical prodigy who can play classical guitar, conduct the Philharmonic Orchestra, and even learn how to play do re mi fa sol la si , he can play all the sounds he hears on the piano. To be honest, it's kind of silly.
Evan never stopped in his search for his parents, and he was confident that he would find them. Laila also returned to the Philharmonic in search of the child. There are also many touching scenes and sentences in the film. When he was in the orphanage at first, the staff asked Evan: "Don't you want to have a decent home?" Evan had tears in his eyes at that time, I guess he might want to express: "I don't want to be adopted, my parents will find me."
When Louis and Evan met on the street, Evan said, "I study at Juilliard and have my concert tonight, but I can't make it." Louis replied, "If I were at Juilliard College study, and tonight there is my concert, even if the sky falls, I will go. Music must not be given up, no matter what happens, because only music can shelter you from the wind and rain in your most difficult moments , make you forget everything!" Perhaps because of Louis's words, Evan ended up going to the concert. And after nearly twelve years, the family of three also reunited at the concert as they wished.
This is a beautiful musical film that begins with Bach's "Suite No. 3 Overture" and ends with "August's Rhapsody in C major". When the final Rhapsody sounded, without a single line, only the music could move everyone, giving people a sense of hearing and spiritual shock. To quote the last sentence in the film: The music is all around us, all you do is listen.
Lamenting the magic of fate, those who should meet will meet no matter how late. Impressive, great movie!
