what exclusive collectivism brings to the individual

I have long admired this German film, and today I watched it together under the encouragement of Master Mao. This is a film based on true events, telling the story of an ordinary high school student's classroom becoming a totalitarian society for the next week under the guidance of a teacher. This is a very big topic. As a small article to introduce some ideas for Master Mao's ultimate masterpiece, I will not discuss the origin, development, principles and fate of totalitarianism here. I will talk about the totalitarian method (exclusive collectivism) in the film. What does it bring to each individual.

In a modern German high school classroom in the soil of freedom, why did neat uniforms appear so easily and uniformly waved within a week? Why are people willing to give up individuality and freedom to follow this all-consuming "wave"? What does it bring people? It gives people who are usually weak and angry with complete self-confidence and dependence. It gives people who are not beautiful and poor grades a platform to be treated equally. It gives people of different backgrounds and beliefs the opportunity to stand out. It gives children from broken families trust. It gives people who have nothing to do a fulfilling life, it gives people who are confused about their ideals a goal to strive for, and it gives people who cause trouble the enthusiasm to devote themselves to "meaningful" events... Of course, there are also doubters in the process. And those who disdain, they left the collective either actively or passively.

The above problems can be seen everywhere in every corner of the world, and every victim is eager to change the status quo. Therefore, the soil of exclusive collectivism is everywhere in the world. The root cause is that the individual lacks the understanding and realization of self-worth, and then attaches the realization of self-worth to exclusive collectivism. It is precisely because of this that members of exclusive collectivism think themselves superior and better than others. After establishing iron discipline and absolute trust in the collective (uniforms and gestures are all expressions of discipline and trust), they do not hesitate to exclude those who oppose or do not meet the standards from the collective (this exclusion can achieve cleansing and The height of the massacre), in waves of fanaticism, this collectivism became fascism and the entirety of some people’s lives, eventually going beyond anyone’s control.

This kind of thing not only happened in Germany, I believe you and I have experienced many details in this movie (whether you have worn a school uniform, whether you have done some kind of ceremony, whether you have been asked to swear allegiance to a certain organization), but not so Dramatic and exaggerated. From here, we may also notice that this kind of totalitarianism often breeds and spreads in the name of some seemingly beautiful ideals and slogans, which further weaken people's vigilance and eventually lead to human beings. Tragedy in history.

I won't elevate and deepen the theme here, but talk about this movie. This very good and grand theme, this "Wave" only took about 100 minutes to perform, and it wasted quite a while at the beginning. Although the performances of the actors are good, the process of the formation and development of this organization is still a little abrupt and simplified. I admit that some people who are usually wronged are easily infected by it, but the frenzy that burned the whole city overnight, the evolution of the film is not very convincing. But at the end, the teacher's speech in the auditorium was very exciting. It was like the rebirth of "Triumph of the Will", and every audience might be ignited, even if the ending was a bit dramatic.
