behind the history

Louis XVI was such an upright and kind person, as a member of the royal family, he was not arrogant and extravagant. He is not good at expressing, but the eyes of the queen are full of love and tolerance.

Becoming king at the age of 20 is not so easy to run a crumbling country. He put on the crown ignorantly, always listening silently to the ministers' opinions in meetings, but in the end he was caught in the middle of the stubborn aristocracy and the mourning citizens.

If he were a commoner, he would have been a lovely neighbor; but he succeeded to the throne, and these virtues showed his incompetence.

Queen Maria was an innocent girl when she first came to France. At the border, she said goodbye to the friends who accompanied her all the way, but the French royal family even had to send back the dog that Maria brought. Outside the palace, she smiled kindly with the French nobles, but what returned her was an inquiring, indifferent look, how flustered she should be under the dignified manner.

Whether it was the pressure of being childless or the pressure of the national treasury being depleted, it was right and wrong to press on her. It is said that Maria is extravagant. She did use extravagance to fill the void in her heart when the prince did not want to have the same room with her, but she became a lot more frugal after becoming a mother. Besides, she left her parents and came to France at the age of 14. Who would educate her everywhere? At that time, Maria wanted to plant oak trees on both sides of the trail, and she was looking forward to bringing big trees. The housekeeper on the side reminded her that she had spent more than 50,000 euros this month, and her expression did not change, but when she heard that she had no money to donate to charity this month, she immediately changed her mind and said that it would be better to replace it with small saplings. It can be seen that Maria has no concept of the amount of money, and there are not enough people by her side to teach her that it is too extravagant to do so. It is rare to be able to grow up so kindly and tenderly in the French royal family, who is repressed and far away from his hometown.

How can one man's extravagance lead to a deficit in the treasury? The deficit was also caused by the luxury of the entire aristocracy, the excessive financial assistance to the United States, and the profligacy and weakness of previous generations of monarchs. In the end, they dumped the blame on Maria. "The subjects have no bread to eat, then let them eat cake." Maria naively thought that as long as she did not admit these nonsense words, it would be fine, but she did not know that the subjects outside the palace did not think so.

The film allowed me to look at the passage of the French Revolution from a microscopic, personally emotional point of view. Even if it may be unofficial history, it may not be true, but it makes people sigh. People outside look at a thing like looking at flowers in the fog, and if they catch the most prominent person, they push all the guilt up. But after a close understanding of the growth process of Louis XVI and Queen Maria, you will know that they all have a lovely side, and they are so incompatible with the guillotine. After the death of the king and queen, the mob did not spare their young sons and daughters, abused, beaten, gang-raped... In this revolution, no party was right. Jumping out of the story, the costumes, interior decoration, and outdoor framing in this movie are all well-intentioned, and the excellent production is worthy of praise.
