This semester I took the course of American Western as an elective, so I watched almost all the classic American movies. Many people don't like to watch western movies. They find it very boring and old-fashioned, but some people like the current Hollywood commercial action blockbuster in the United States. In fact, after taking this course, I realized that American Westerns are almost exactly the same as the current Hollywood blockbusters. There is one pattern and one source. Early Westerns have almost dug out all the classic plot patterns. Now everybody sees the movies. It's almost like changing the soup without changing the medicine, just new wine in old bottles.
From the genre analysis:
magnificent seven, which created a new Hollywood plot mode: PROFESSIONAL PLOT.
Simply put, it is the previous western film (such as the earliest Guanshan Feidu, and the hero character is RANGO KID). All are a Western hero who fights alone to save everyone, and from here on, they become a group of people to save. But this is not the only difference. It looks similar to a classic Western movie, but there are many minor differences.
From here on, the heroes portrayed in the film are no longer heroes in the traditional sense. They fight for justice and morality, mostly because they are professional professional killers. In this film, all professional killers are paid to choose to fight. All heroes possess unique skills, but at the same time they are cursed by their own skills. Therefore, the 7 people here cannot finally settle down and cannot live a civilian life. Generally in this kind of film, the society is very weak, and the imperfection of the legal system leads to the prevalence of personal heroism. But in the end, the trend of society is to gradually improve the legal system, and the fate of this type of people will ultimately only fail. As CRIS said at the end of the film, they are trending LOST, and the farmer has won. The Avengers that has evolved to today are also a group of heroes with stunts.
Analysis from MYTH:
There is a long Christian tradition
in the West. In the Bible, Jesus led his people out of oppression and suffering and came to a new fertile land. Even if he was dealing with God, he would never be able to step into this land.
So the heroes in the westerns lead the villagers out of suffering, but they will never be able to stay. Can't enjoy the plain tranquility. Many dialogues in the film show this. They have no family, no relatives, no worries and no property. Only with oneself as company.
Analyzed from a social perspective: It
was during the Vietnam War. It was a group of white people who led a group of Mexicans to liberate from suffering, please control it. However, in reality, the United States is precisely because of its fear of socialism and occupying Vietnam, and it seems that it wants to act as an international policeman. In fact, the United States suffered heavy losses. The American people did not approve of the Vietnam War either. The last four of the seven people in the film died. And admitted that he completely lost.
