Joe (Jon Voight) is unwilling to stay in Texas, he decides to use his handsome appearance and good "bedtime" to seek development in New York, the way is to chat up those "rich old women" . He meets RICO (Dustin Hoffman), a New York pimp who dreams of going to Florida to enjoy the sunshine and coconut water, to help him introduce his business, but everything does not go well. Joe is blackmailed by prostitutes and has no place to live. Homosexuals are not accepted, and the two live a life at the bottom of society, and even pawned their favorite radio in order to eat Joe. Just as their business was on the right track, RICO felt seriously ill, and his last wish was for Joe to take him to Florida.
The atmosphere in the first half of the film is relaxed, even a little comedy, and the atmosphere in the second half gradually deepens. The film contains a lot of visual elements, fast flashbacks, awareness shots, and a bit of an avant-garde flavor. The montage effect is achieved by inserting the TV screen, and the effect is quite good. The roles of the characters in the film are prostitutes and pimps, and they have always been in a dark position, but they do not give people the feeling of "dirty transactions", but ordinary people with flesh and blood. The film does not deliberately describe and explore the topic of homosexuality, but uses it as a part of the background of the story, which is naturally integrated into the whole plot.
The dialogue does not forget to mention John Wayne, which is a small episode.
