queen and elk

After watching this movie, you will be able to understand some of the British political system better than reading some political explanation texts
=====

Many people say that the elk in the movie refers to Diana.

I don't think Elk is Diana. But the Queen herself.

I watched the director's subtitled version.

The director said that the Queen spends 2 months in every year...that's the Royal Forest.

Because the queen became queen because of an accident, if not, she said she would like to stay in the country and be a village girl. And the Queen is keen to come to the Royal Forest, because here, she can ignore "political affairs" and be purely a village girl, close to nature and animals.

So later, when she was driving a Land Rover across the river, she would cry.

This is impossible in London, in the palace, in public.

And hunting elk is a royal tradition, so the elk also represents a royal tradition.

The elk is like the queen herself, hoping that nature will be peaceful, but because of the royal family and because of human society, it cannot control its own destiny. It either died honorably at the hands of a royal hunter, or grievously killed by a wealthy London financier.

I think for the Queen, the death of the elk was a bigger blow to herself than the death of Diana.

It can also be seen from the movie that Diana was not her real self from the time of her death. Instead, the mass media have added a lot of idealistic and tragic Diana (there are actually many such effects, such as Mao, Guevara, Putin, etc.). And this kind of fake Diana is not liked by everyone, such as the royal family, such as the queen.

The Queen quotes

  • HM Queen Elizabeth II: That's how I think best: on my feet. I've never been one for sitting around endlessly. A good walk and fresh air sorts everything out.

  • HM Queen Elizabeth II: Nowadays people want glamour, and tears, the grand performance. I'm not very good at that. I never have been. I prefer to keep my feelings to myself. And foolishly, I believed that was what people wanted from their Queen, not to make a fuss, nor wear one's heart on one's sleeve. Duty first, self second. That's how I was brought up. That's all I've ever known.
