This is a story about the death of Diana, the British royal family, and the game between the government, the royal family, and the people. This movie is a movie that everyone will experience differently. Overall, this is a good film, mainly because of its combination of real news segments and storytelling, no wonder it won the best screenplay and best actress awards at the Venice Film Festival.

In the face of the news of the death of Diana, an outsider insider, whether to express a position or not to express a position, and how to express a position, is something the Queen must consider. It was forced at the beginning, but it came from the heart afterward. In the face of such an incident, the Blair government has changed from aggressively pressing the palace at the beginning to the later change of Blair's attitude towards his staff and his wife. At least he can understand a queen who has done 50 years behind the scenes for the royal family and her people. The Queen has met 10 prime ministers, and it is no different, but because of the Diana incident, it has changed a lot, at least the Queen said a "modern" word.

The Queen finally told Blair: "The people these days like heartfelt speeches, but I'm not good at this, never, I like to suppress my emotions, I foolishly think that the people want this kind of Queen, not that kind. The type of fuss, responsibility first, personal second."

This sentence is interpreted by different people from different angles. Some people watch this movie and think that it represents the decline of the royal family and the invincibility of the old. In fact, in my opinion, this is the art of balancing the royal family. At least in the back, I understand the meaning of doing that show as an "outsider".

The face problem of the royal family, the face problem of the queen, everyone has face problems.

The Queen quotes

  • Prince Philip: Have you seen the latest funeral guest list?

    HM Queen Elizabeth II: No.

Prince Philip: I suggest you keep it that way. A chorus line of soap stars and homosexuals.

  • Alastair Campbell: They, er, sent a copy of the Queen's speech. Might want to scrape the frost off it first... Oh, I phoned them with a couple of suggestions, to make it sound like it came from a human being.

Tony Blair: Yeah, all right, Alastair.

Alastair Campbell: Well, at least the old bat's finally agreed to visit Diana's coffin.

Tony Blair: You know, when you get it wrong, you really get it wrong! That woman has given her whole life in service to her people. Fifty years doing a job SHE never wanted! A job she watched kill her father. She's executed it with honor, dignity, and, as far as I can tell, without a single blemish, and now we're all baying for her blood! All because she's struggling to lead the world in mourning for someone who... who threw everything she offered back in her face. And who, for the last few years, seemed committed 24/7 to destroying everything she holds most dear!
