I should have said something long ago about the Beatles, a band that had a huge impact on my life and whose music accompanied me through my youth. The first time I listened to Beatles' songs was in the third year of junior high school. It was a box of tapes, Anthology3, given by my classmates. Like a hypodermic injection, I was deeply fascinated by this kind of music, plus the entire tape was quite long, definitely more than an hour, I listened to it almost every day, and there were countless nights I fell asleep with the Beatles music. During that time, I was eager to find all the information and articles related to the Beatles, and met John, Paul, George and Ringo, four boys from Liverpool, England. Later, I bought a piece of John Lennon's best collection of Lennon Legend and the VCD of the album at a video store. Through the video screen, I became even more confused about John Lennon's legendary life and hippie style worship, and gave myself an English language. Named John. You may not know, my screen name on AIM is "johnluvbeatles", and the fanaticism is evident.
I think if there is an organization that studies the Beatles like the Red School in China that studies the Dream of Red Mansions, I will definitely sign up for it. Their lyrics are almost the most English material I have read in my school days, and their music reverberates in my head almost all the time. After college, I bought Beatles records frugally, Let It Be, Sgt.Pepper, Yellow Submarine, one by one... In fact, I had an idea at the time, if I wanted to make a movie, the records inside I will use all Beatles music for the soundtrack. Beatles fans should know the movie I Am Sam. When I only listened to the soundtrack of this movie, I imagined the movie as a movie with stories and pictures like Across the Universe, but it turned out to be a little bit different when I saw the real movie. Disappointing, but Sean Penn's acting is still very good. Fortunately, in 2007, a good director and a good producer made such a film, otherwise I might have made such a film myself. Interestingly, before watching it, I guessed that the climax or ending song of this film would be Lucy in the Sky with Diamond, but the ending song is actually the famous LSD. Compared with I Am Sam, Across the Universe's repertoire is richer, but I still appreciate I Am Sam's song combination more. If I really want to condense Beatles' songs into one record, it may be like I Am Sam. .
In fact, to be honest, Across the Universe almost doesn't need a screenwriter, all it wants is to connect Beatles' songs with stories, just like Gu Juji's "The King of Love Songs" sung from beginning to end. The fact is, I sang along from the beginning of the movie to the end. Although I can't remember some of the lyrics, the familiar melody and pronunciation seem to stay in my mouth all the time, never leave, and can jump out at any time. It's been a long time since I listened to Beatles, but until now, I still hum a certain melody inexplicably, just like those cute characters in Across the Universe. I believe that all Beatles fans will be like me, Beatles music has become a part of life. Finally, this is a film made by Beatles fans for Beatles fans. If you plan to watch this film but haven’t heard much Beatles, I suggest you listen to their music first, and then watch it after you’re familiar with it. This film will make it more fun.
