Good character play

Hearing Pompeii reminds me of Pompeii, the second largest city in ancient Rome, which once made the Romans proud and sighed.
Director Paul Anderson integrated disaster, friendship, love, business and other elements into one, using 3D real shooting, a large number of special effects, the perfect connection between Mount Vesuvius and the ancient city of Pompeii, the scene is breathtaking. I'm never sure that gorgeous scenes can make or break a movie, but I never deny it either. Disasters are endless, and the personal emotions that people show in the face of powerful natural disasters are always memorable.
The characters in this movie have a strong inner drama, showing the outlook on life and love in the ancient Roman era. From this point of view, I like it.
Cassia and Milo fell in love at first sight. They knew that such a cross-class love was impossible, and the courage to risk the world is worthy of encouragement. There is only one seed of love, and when it is planted, it must be cultivated carefully. Cassia is Milo's courage to live. Whether it is fighting for survival in the arena or rushing to the mansion to save the beauty from a volcanic eruption, Milo resolutely chose love between life and love, and the continuation of love is the continuation of life. Human beings are extremely small in the face of natural disasters. The sky is covered with volcanic ash, and countless flames fall from the sky. Love makes people strong and fragile.
Corrupt MPs' love for Cassia, by contrast, is extremely low. He used his political power to force a marriage, but unfortunately the woman didn't like him. Cassia and Milo's "flashes" made the congressman very angry. It really should be said that love always meets jealousy. It was not until the end of the film that the two fought forcibly, and Cassia and Milo were finally married. But it always backfires. The volcano has erupted, and the lava is approaching them. At the moment when the god of death arrives, under Mount Vesuvius, they hug and kiss. True love has only a beginning and no end. Even if the remains are dug up after a thousand years, it has to be said that love cannot be changed by the environment, nor can it be erased by time.
Atticus and Milo were originally gladiatorial rivals, and the proper outcome was either his death or my death. However, after seeing the lies of Rome clearly, the two became brothers in the face of disaster. They succumbed like no one, and the words of Atticus are still fresh in my memory: swordfighters don't beg for mercy. So the two slaves formed an alliance and set off a climax of resistance. Friends were not met by language, but by telepathy. There is no doubt that they can burn the fire of life on both sides, and in the reality of ice and fire, they burn dazzlingly. Without the help of Atticus in this film, it would be difficult for Milo to meet Cassia at the last moment of his life. It can be said that Atticus' friendship element and Cassia's love element are the focus of this film.
When Rome, Vesuvius, love, friendship, family affection, doomsday and other major elements are intertwined and interpreted, the story of history, told with technology, is a good movie.

Sudden earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanic eruptions and 2012 are still far from being prepared in advance. The feeling of watching after 2019 and watching it in 2014 will definitely be completely different. You will know that when the real apocalypse happens, it is the most suitable for romance, because running away is futile, and there will be no victory escape at all. It is also when life and death are doomed. Talents do not hesitate to really know what they desire most, and they are not afraid to show their "childishness". Instead, those after the catastrophe are child's play.

I'll give it one star for the special effects. I was very interested when I was a child, but it's not interesting to be photographed like this.

  • Proculus: You're brave, I'll give you that, but no savage can ever be a match for a Roman.

  • Atticus: Now who's the poor bastard who has to die for my freedom?
