Compared with the BBC in 2008: Ang Lee's screenwriting ability is obviously much better, and the story is explained clearly and smoothly; the scene selection, house, and actors in the 2008 version are more beautiful; in addition, Brandon Ang Lee's version performed better, Edward Version 08 is better. Taking the above into account, it is best to take advantage of each.
In addition, this movie that helped Ang Lee win the Best Screenplay Award has many changes compared to the original book:
1. The plot of Edward helping to find Margaret, the little sister of the three sisters hiding under the table, is very good. In Ang Lee Edward is so vivid and lovely all of a sudden in the movie. There is no such link in the original.
2. Brandon's appearance was particularly good. When he came back, he happened to meet everyone listening to Marianne playing the piano. He stood quietly behind everyone and listened, feeling a little love at first sight. There was no such design in the original book, and then Brandon came back, then ate Barabara's, and finally listened to the piano and songs, and honestly lacked the drama and impact of this.
3. Sir John's wife is directly dead. So that what her mother, Mrs. Jennings, did and played a lot was no longer abrupt and strange. At least it's much better than the 2008 version of the BBC. The scene that the BBC gave is too terrible. The expressionless and dull picture of the lady and the children is really strange.
Of course, I still want to say that the original book is richer and more logical than the movie. For example, neither of the two movies can explain why Edward's younger brother Robert and Lucy finally got together, so it will make the audience feel abrupt and unreasonable. Yes, but the original text explains this in detail. However, the combination of the 2008 BBC version and the Ang Lee version of two high-level film and television works, I think it still gave us an extremely beautiful viewing experience. In many respects, I think the original book itself is not as good as the original book, because many things in the original book appear in the form of dialogue , more illusory, but the movie has given us all flesh and blood, real and vivid people.
