First of all, in terms of character shaping, this film is quite successful. Whether it is the protagonist or a group of supporting characters, they all have distinct and impressive personalities. Lots of sarcasm and jokes just right.
The progression of the plot and the rhythm are well grasped. The plot can even be said to be ups and downs and fascinating. The descriptions of the characters' emotions are delicate and touching, and the handling of many details and the setting of the scenes are ingenious, such as the dance party, the ticking of the clock, and the poem, all of which have produced very good results.
From this film, you can already see the style of director Ang Lee, but the skills he showed in this film are still tangible in some places, but in Brokeback Mountain, they have reached the realm and become invisible.
