After the Egyptian mummy was tired of being played by Hollywood, this time it was the turn of Egyptian mythology.
Similar to mythology-themed movies, in the past few years, there have also been [Clash of the Gods] and [Wrath of the Gods] starring Sam Worthington (that is, the male protagonist of [Avatar]), using Greek mythology, word-of-mouth and The box office is average. At the same time, there was also the [Percy Jackson] series with the theme of Greek mythology combined with the modern world.
To say that Greek mythology is the most impressive, it should be [300 Warriors], the visual effect stylized work of Zack Snyder (the director of the upcoming Super Bat War). There is also [Troy], the cast has a strong lineup, a high-level layout, and a good quality. It is far from myth and closer to reality.
Greek mythology, the common people can still hear a little bit, such as Zeus, Poseidon, etc., the popularity of the public is there. Hollywood made a fuss about it and made a movie in the past. And Egyptian mythology, even fewer people know, anyway, I know almost nothing about it. If you make an analogy, it is estimated that the popularity in Egypt is similar to that of the gods in our Journey to the West.
In this way, although this subject matter is not surprising, it is at least somewhat fresh. Mythology can be made into an epic like [Troy] when it is big, and it can be a little fresh like [Percy Jackson] when it is small. But no matter which direction, the visual effects are the biggest gimmick of this kind of film.
[God War: Eyes of Power] can be considered to have caught this gimmick and made full use of it. It is neither epic nor youthful hormones. But even this visual gimmick is a bit too hard to play. From a technical point of view, the level of CG is not extraordinary, and the transformation of the gods is also a glossy and smooth metal shape, even the high-tech difficulty of hair is saved. In other words, the episode of the villain's final transformation actually gave me a visual sense of Chen Kun's "Zhong Kui's Demon", hahaha, but after all, the special effects in Hollywood are as low as those made in China. After all, seeing too many similar visual effects will always cause a bit of aesthetic fatigue.
The plot setting is all kinds of clichés, promiscuity and illogicality. The Shakespeare-style slaying of a brother to seize power, and the story line of a son's revenge on his father can only be said to be nothing new. The addition of mortals has become a key point in the progression of the plot and the turning point of contradictions, and the handling of the relationship between humans and gods can hardly be described as profound. Moreover, I feel that this mortal guy is simply using a plug-in. Not only does he not die in all kinds of customs, but even the God of Wisdom asks him to remind him if he can't answer the question, which is better than God.
I don't know if this is the case in Egyptian mythology. Gods can even die, so what kind of gods are they called? Perhaps to show the nobility of God, the blood of God is set to be golden, that is, the white knife goes in and the yellow knife comes out. Does this stab in the rectum? In the final confrontation, did the villain fall to his death from a height? I was too old to see clearly, but I was spitting out gold water and pouring into a pool of golden blood. The scene was so beautiful that I thought of the Oscar statuette. Also, the villain is played by Gerard Butler, the leader king in [300 Spartans], but his image has not changed, and his beard and hairstyle are exactly the same, which made me travel from Egypt to Greece in minutes (or the same Greek mythology is involved). I also recognize the setting that God can die. The problem is that some die and then die, some die and can be resurrected, and some simply enter the underworld and can't find it. What kind of logic is this? The life and death of mortals cannot be decided by the gods, but it is a matter of the God of the gods. The most interesting thing is the judges in the underworld. Their daily job is to ask dead mortals, "What chips do you have in exchange for the next life?" Won't you get burnout? With so many judges sitting, one of them is asking, is it okay for the others to stare blankly or not to work?
Of course, the movie still has merit. In addition to the special effects, the most eye-catching are the handsome guys and beauties (my focus is of course on the latter, haha). The girl friend of the mortal guy, she has a big chest and a good face, so I will post a few more pictures for everyone to see. Courtney Eaton, hey, she's also in [Mad Max: Rampage Mass]!
