In view of the excitement and shock of "Ring 1", when I learned that "Ring 2" started filming, I was looking forward to it. Later, when I saw the trailer, I felt that the taste of the first film no longer seemed to be maintained, and the starring of the previous film also retired. Second-tier, I was a little disappointed, and I didn't go to the cinema to watch it until after the feature film was released with bad reviews. I watched it at home yesterday to pass the time, and it was really disappointing as the public commented.
As a mecha-themed sci-fi film, the mecha in the first film is uniquely cold and heavy, more like a robot. The second part is unfortunately not continued. The shape of the mecha is like wearing a fashion, and the appearance has been improved, but it is flashy, and people can't feel the hugeness and power of the mecha. The combat of the mecha is also not ideal, not like a robot, but more like two people fighting. The director seems to have no concept of mecha combat, and did not improve the look and feel in terms of sound effects and scenes.
It's a bit disappointing that the characters can't use the protagonist of the previous film, and the male protagonist of "Ring 2" is very nonsensical. He has no in-depth interpretation and exploration of his personality and past. I don't know what he is doing and what he is doing. This character has no succession, no growth, and is more like a passerby than a protagonist. The heroine is ambiguous. I don't know whether it is the little girl or Jingtian. Of course, there are also no characters. These women together are not as popular as Kikuchi Rinko. This aspect is very different from the first one. There are no characters. Whose story is it? This movie has no soul at all.
The storyline is average, not great, not bad either. It needs to be mentioned that the Chinese elements in the film are quite dense. In addition to the Chinese actors who are dominated by Jing Tian, there are also places such as Hong Kong and Shanghai. Compared with the appearance of Chinese people in Hollywood sci-fi films in the past few years, the audience's acceptance level seems to be better now, and it is no longer so embarrassing, but it still feels a bit inconsistent. In our past impressions, this kind of science fiction film that saves the world belongs to the Americans, and has nothing to do with the Chinese at all. Nowadays, Chinese faces, place names and brands frequently appear in Hollywood movies, which shows that China is a big market in the eyes of foreigners, and they need to cater to Chinese audiences. It is certainly a good thing that China's national strength is getting stronger, but in my subjective impression, these implants seem too hard and far-fetched. Foreigners seem to think that Chinese audiences are stupid and rich, and they will be cheered by a little tout. I advise them not to do this. The Chinese audience will not blindly buy it, and we also have the ability to identify and choose.
The soundtrack is also not as good as the first one, the classic music is hardly heard, only a little is added on the eve of the decisive battle. "Ring 1" is so burning, so classic, this music is the hero. "Ring 2" can't even continue this point, it is a big failure.
The visual effects are as heavy as the scene of a car accident. Many large scenes can be seen as stickers at a glance. I even imagine the actors performing in front of the green screen. This is the 50 cents special effect in Hollywood, which makes people laugh and cry.
There are still many flaws. One of them is very impressive. I have to say that after the final boss beast merged successfully, Newt smiled relievedly, which was too inconsistent. This smile is more like what our members showed when the positive characters were resurrected and the Jedi counterattacked, and Newt is the villain in this film, and it is inappropriate to put it on him. I don't know why it is cut here.
There is also the role of Jing Tian, who is too facial, a strong woman with heavy makeup and a strong tone of voice. Do you have to pretend like this? And in the end, it was bluntly whitewashed. In the end, the boss's solution was different, and he was killed. I can only think that the screenwriter was too lazy.
There are also praiseworthy places, but it is only reflected in the monsters, such as the fusion of monsters and mechas, and the final integrated boss.
Compared to the excitement, surging, and sacrifice of the first, the second is just too bad.
