Maybe the New York Women's Guide

Recently, I watched another American drama from the 1990s, and it was also included in the "Women's Growth Must-See Series" by many film critics. It's Sex and the City. When the national drama Ode to Joy was on fire last year, I went through various film reviews, and many people mentioned that it has the shadow of the American drama Sex and the City. But when I watched the first season of Sex and the City, I had to admire in my heart that many domestic urban dramas, even the recently popular Japanese drama Tokyo Women's Picture Book, more or less borrowed from it. Whether it is the character design, the form of shooting, or even the relationship between the sexes that is repeatedly discussed in the TV series.

Four attractive single women with decent jobs in their mid-thirties living in Manhattan, the busiest part of New York. It seems that the four heroines should be the envy of ordinary people in the audience, but in New York, they are just one of the people who come and go on the streets.

Kelly, a writer for the Sex and the City column. Charlotte, gallery manager. Samantha, PR Manager. Miranda, attorney. The TV series unfolds from Kylie's point of view, usually a large segment of Kylie's monologue, Kylie editing her Sex and the City column to the computer, four women attending various parties, nightclub parties, gossip in restaurants, watching together match. The lives of the heroines, in addition to work, are all kinds of dates. American date culture will also appear in every episode. I think that the love apartment was born. Although it was borrowed (copied) (copied), its appearance also impacted me as a high school student. Life in a love apartment or Sex and the City is obviously far from me, but I also know that it does exist and is a daily routine as a group of people.

Watching this drama, if you bring your own fixed point of view, you may feel uncomfortable, and curse these heroines as slutty Bitchi. But after watching a few episodes, I can't help but sigh that the things discussed in the play are not what many people are going through in this ever-changing social life but dare not discuss it generously?

Samantha is the most charming in it. She has blonde hair and a sexy voice. In her opinion, women should have the same rights as men, whether it is work or sex. She forages food like a bee and never gets into stable relationships. She is one of the most sexual partners on the show, with a new date almost every episode. She is not ashamed of her own desires, she is so honest. What I remember most is that when Samantha was looking for a new house, after a female agent showed her, she found another male agent, wanting to buy a better house at a cheaper price. When he took her to see the house quietly, Samantha really launched an offensive, and the two were about to start when they were met by a group of female agents who were showing the customer. The female agent said angrily, how can you find another agent? Samantha said confidently, how could you not show me this suite? Samantha has also been involved in other people's marriages. When a man is about to divorce his wife and be with her, he and she say I don't want a stable relationship. After meeting an old man who was as boring as a turtle, Samantha tried her best to change him to be what she liked, but she finally gave up and broke up. When I was practicing yoga, I had a reverie about the coach, but the coach was an ascetic, and he taught her how to control. After a few days of perseverance, Samantha casually asked a man in her yoga class. It's just such a person, but I can't hate it. Qu Xiaoxiao in Ode to Joy may have a bit of Samantha's shadow, but after all, Qu Xiaoxiao is just the feeling of a rich second-generation willful little girl, and Samantha is a kind of free and easy old lady who is happy.

Contrary to Samantha, Charlotte is the most traditional of the four women. She works in a gallery. She has wonderful fantasies about marriage, Prince Charming, children, and family. Like most women today, she represents dignified and gentle, with meticulous brown and supple hair, and a warm feeling in the corners of her eyebrows, eyes and mouth. But don't think she's a dull good girl. After all, she is also the one who used to be a model for a painter who painted a series of oil paintings of women's private parts. During the oil painting exhibition, when Charlotte brought her friends excitedly and shyly to look at her paintings, she was simply adorable. A certain boyfriend wanted a "threesome", Charlotte initially refused, but then couldn't resist the temptation, and even had a related dream. After a certain party, she and the male ticket came to the upstairs guest room, and a beautiful woman walked in. Just as they were about to start the scene in the dream, the male ticket and the woman had a hot fight first. Charlotte walked away with a look of confusion and a bit of frustration.

Miranda's role is relatively much less. She graduated from Harvard University. She is a lawyer with a strong appearance and the highest income among the four. Among the four, she is the only one with short hair and the only one who is not so fashion-conscious. dressed people. But at parties, she also wears a low-cut sexy dress and bright lipstick. She's usually annoyed, and the men she's dating, either ignore her being smart because she's pretty. Either she's not the pretty type because she's smart. In order to have a good relationship with his boss, he goes to his boss's house party with a lesbian pretending to be a couple. The reality, however, is that she finds herself as a single straight daughter, which is too hard.

There are also some interspersed plots in the play that also impressed me. One of them was the four of them attending a friend's baby shower. Facing a room full of pregnant mothers and women who already have children, they feel very uncomfortable. This is New York, a Sex and the City, a city with so many young and promising women. After these strong women get married and have children, they consciously give up their original lives, parties, shopping, and even work. They become housewives around children, gardeners, housekeepers, and the occasional extramarital lover. The most coquettish party stripper ever became a pregnant woman. When she tried to join Kelly and their party to be the focus of the party, she was embarrassed to find that the maternity underwear she was wearing was not easy to take off, and it was not sexy at all, she cried in frustration. Kelly thought, if I get married, how can I keep my nature? Yes, when we think that one day we may enter the family, enter the role of wife, mother, and how do we maintain ourselves when we give up part of our nature. Finding a balance among contradictions should not be an easy task.

As the heroine of the heroines, Kelly is also the developer of the story. She is not a fixed face, but a very unique person that incorporates certain characteristics of the three people. She's sexy and smart, she longs for romantic passion but more for a stable relationship. She is like an ordinary person, with ordinary people's entanglement and hypocrisy. But I don't think that's called hypocrisy, it's a girl's choice when she faces two inner voices. The encounter with MR.BIG was on the streets of Manhattan, and the morning after she had a one-night stand with a long-ago ex, she found herself feeling lighthearted, wondering if a woman could be in a relationship like a man could be just sex and not. No emotional bondage. The refreshed Kelly collided with MR.BIG, and the ultra-thin condoms in the bag were scattered all over the place, as if to indicate that this woman had a good date recently. A little embarrassed but Kelly and him appear lighthearted. However, the fact is not as Kelly thinks that women can only have sex without love. Over the next few episodes, they would meet again by accident, and later Kelly began dating him.

MR.BIG took Kelly on a date to meet his unfamiliar friend, and he did not introduce Kelly to his friend. Kelly is very angry, you are my boyfriend and you don't introduce me Is it because you don't admit that I am your female ticket? Haven't we reached a stable relationship yet? Later, he took her to a Chinese restaurant with few people. In the eyes of his friends, that restaurant was "a restaurant that you don't want to be recognized by others". Kelly got angry, went to hook up with other men, and then called and scolded her, and told him to come to the back door of the park to see her, thinking that he would not come, but when he did come, she blamed herself for being in the real back door. Wait half an hour.

But he and Kelly are not two worlds. Kelly worries that she doesn't deserve him, the perfect house, the perfect family, the perfect job, the perfect man. He only showed her a part of his world, and Kelly slowly learned that he also had a perfect ex-wife, he didn't want to get married, he didn't want to settle down, he would go to church with his mother on Sunday to pray, but the same, he said, Kelly is just his friend. Looking at the backs of him and his mother, she felt inferior and fascinated by him. Even MR.BIG asked Kelly to go on vacation with him, and Kelly thought it was a kind of "charity" and "compensation". They are not equal. Kelly would feel frustrated and embarrassed for many days because she accidentally farted with him at that time, and she couldn't completely let go of her perfect female ticket burden in front of him.

But the biggest obstacle was that he didn't want to settle down. Kelly asked him when he was about to get in the car, would I be your only one? He said, Kelly, don't do that, get in the car. Instead of answering directly, he changed the subject. Kelly said, I can't, I can't. he's gone.

At the end of the first season, Kelly said, I will find the one. Even in an open country, in the most open and developed city, the most primitive love between people is everlasting. Two people, just each other and no one else. Kelly still believes, like a little girl, waiting for the only one.

Sex and the City quotes

  • Carrie: I revealed too much too soon. I was emotionally slutty.

  • Carrie: The most important thing in life is your family. There are days you love them, and others you don't. But, in the end, they're the people you always come home to. Sometimes it's the family you're born into and sometimes it's the one you make for yourself.
