still have time to be happy

It is said that JULIE was 40 years old and a virgin when he met Paul. However, she met PAUL after all, the super nice man who fully supported her both in spirit and in action. And they were so in love with each other until they were in their nineties. Before getting married, she didn't even know how to cook eggs. However, she ended up hosting a well-known TV cooking show for a decade and publishing a cookbook with historic significance to American food. At least from the point of view of the movie, in her own words, she is as happy as living in heaven.

How can happiness be too late.
It's still too late.

This movie will be a good teaching material.
JULIE and JULIA are two very different people.
JULIE is optimistic and open-minded, while JULIA is sensitive and impatient, and she is often too worried, almost to the point of self-abuse. JULIA learned a lot of things other than cooking and realized the preciousness of the other half in the process of learning from the recipe. This saved her life on the other hand.

There is always time to be happy, as long as you want.

I think maybe I still have time to be a happy cook, maybe really happy.

Julie & Julia quotes

  • Julie Powell: She changed everything. Before her, it was frozen food and can openers and marshmallows.

    Eric Powell: Don't knock marshmallows.

    [Julie smiles]

  • Julia Child: [narrating] I'm probably the only American I know in Paris who thinks shopping for food is as *much* fun as buying a dress. Course, you'd think so too if you lived in a country where absolutely *nothing* comes in my size.
