Julia Child is a woman across the century (1912-2004), an undisputed tall person (1.88 meters tall), a master chef who has influenced the appetite of the United States with French cuisine, and an atmospheric woman who has seen the world and has a great spirit.
Julie Powell is also a woman across the century (1975--), an obscure little woman (secretary, temporary worker), a married and childless girl from New York (hometown Texas), a tangled, Sad looking woman.
If two people say that they have anything in common: one, they are both Americans; two, they are both married; three, they both have a loved one.
Although the names are so similar, one is called Julia (Julie A) and the other is called (Julie B) Julie, it seems a bit far-fetched to force the two together. After all, the age difference is so far (more than 60 years old), and the living is farther away (one in Western California, one in East New York), how can it be involved? Hey, it's all about food... It's
said that Julie Jia, a tall man, was born in a wealthy family, married at an advanced age (1.88 meters tall, it's not easy to find a person with a suitable height, so a tall woman has to match her short husband), she never cooks before marriage, and she gets married. After that, there is no need to cook (the family is good enough to use a cook), and the biggest hobby in life is food. After the third birth year, he moved to France with her husband, who had lived in Paris and was sent to Paris by the U.S. government as a cultural counselor. The term of office is only four years, which is a bit boring for Julie Jia, who is accompanied by Tailielie as a family member. Madam, it's business to dress up and go shopping every day. Julie A is not used to it. Fortunately, at the moment of arriving in Paris, the beautiful scenery and delicious food firmly captured Julie Jia's heart. When she was full, she didn't want to go home. Delicious food is the best comfort. After trying the school hat and playing bridge, she was still interested. With the approval of her caring husband, Julie A rolled up her sleeves and signed up to learn French cooking. The so-called: If you don't make a sound, it's already a blockbuster.
French cooking is said to be a hallmark, what a challenge to a person who is not familiar with the kitchen? Julie Jia disagreed: even if you start with chopping onions, it doesn't prevent you from running all the way to the level of a chef. The hard work pays off. Julie Jia, the only female student in the chef class, proved it with facts: Who says women are inferior to men? It is gold that always shines. Julie A has practiced cooking skills. In addition to feasting on her friends, she counts her apprenticeships and makes a name for herself. The French cuisine recipes written by Julie A in English are circulated among friends, and then they are praised by her friends. In the eyes of the publishers of Smart Eyes, once published, it has become very popular, and it has literally changed and improved the level of American taste appreciation.
Therefore, more than 60 years later, in the dilapidated kitchen upstairs of a pizza shop in the Queens district of Metropolitan New York, the little woman Julie B was motivated by depression and determined to use 365 days a year to challenge the 524 recipes in Julie A's Food Collection. Nothing strange. For Julie B, although there is no language barrier to cooking French delicacies according to the recipe, there is a time limit: the secretarial work of 9 to 5 consumes the best time, food, only to squeeze time beyond eight hours. In order not to give up halfway, Julie B started a blog to record the daily progress at the suggestion of her husband, in order to supervise herself.
It is easy to make up your mind, but difficult to persevere. Following Julie A's recipes, watching Julie A's food show videos, and learning about Julie A's life 60 years ago, Julie B gained not only the soaring weight of herself and her husband, but also the support and encouragement of more and more netizens from scratch. , but also subtly felt Julie A's unyielding optimistic and positive character. Effort pays back! Julie B continued to blog again and again, and the click rate of the blog continued to rise, attracting more and more netizens' attention, and finally attracted the interest of the media. After being interviewed one after another, she finally became a celebrity. A year of food practice has not only comforted the taste buds of Julie and his wife, but also improved their relationship. As the saying goes: Chain a person, tie his/her stomach first. Julie B proved this truth in a year.
Two real people, two real stories, traveled through 60 years of time and space, through a book, and met in the kitchen. In Julie B's small dilapidated kitchen, Julie A watches through the pages and words all the time...
About the film:
1. I watched it for Meryl Streep, and of course I liked Amy Adams. The two of them have a perfect partner in Doubt. It is said that they made an appointment to continue to play Julie & Julia on the set. Big names are big names, and you can choose films and roles. However, after watching the movie, I was a little disappointed with Meryl for the first time. There are two things I'm not used to: First, the age gap between the actors and the characters is too big. Julie Jia, an expert in the film, should be in her 40s, and Meryl is already in her 60s, which is very different from her husband (age, size). It’s a pity; secondly, the expert Julie Jia himself speaks in a very accent, but it is within the natural acceptable range. The high-pitched voice imitated by Meryl in the play is really annoying, and the behavior and actions deliberately exaggerate "(over-acting), but it's unnatural, two regrets.
2. It is a story of two women, but the focus of the film is obviously shifted to Julie A. Only Meryl is seen in the whole play, and the others are all foils, and they are suspected of taking over.
3. What is commendable is the shooting style and tone of the film. The Paris part is full of nostalgic beauty, which makes people fall in love with Paris hopelessly. The New York part of the scene is lackluster, as diluted as Julie B's character in the shadow of the mighty Paris and Julie A.
4. The music is beautiful and nostalgic. My favorite is Time after time at the end of the credits:
Time after time
I tell myself that i'm
So lucky to be loving you
So lucky to be
The one you run to see
In the evening, when the day is through
I only know what I know
The passing years will show
You've kept my love so young, so new
And time after time
You'll hear me say that i'm
So lucky to be loving you
