Synopsis

Mr. Oldman (Geoffrey Rush) is a connoisseur auctioneer at a top art auction house and a person who is very delicate in life.

With a serious cleanliness addiction, he has been living alone, has never been in love, and has spent his birthday alone.

Oldman never really came into contact with a woman in his life, but he spent his whole life collecting portraits of countless beautiful women. Perhaps his happiness and the climax of his life came from this.

One day, Oldman received a call from a lady named Claire.

With a large collection of antique heritage she wants to auction, she hopes that Oldman can come to the house for an estimate.

For a long time, Oldman took advantage of his position to conspire with his friends to sell a lot of famous paintings at low prices for his own collection.

And the several ancient paintings mentioned by Claire in the heritage raised his interest, so he was going to go personally to find out.

According to the agreed time, Oldman came to the dilapidated old house where the address given by Claire was located, and was received by an old housekeeper.

Oldman thinks he's not being respected, and as a top connoisseur auctioneer, there's never been a client who doesn't come forward in person.

But when he proposed to see Claire, she was rejected by her for various reasons.

Oldman was very angry. He told the old housekeeper that if Claire didn't want to meet, he would terminate the cooperative relationship and leave immediately.

At this time, the old housekeeper handed over a mobile phone, claiming that Claire would explain to him on the phone.

Oldman took the phone and began to make his request with Claire, but he noticed a strange thing.

On the other end of the phone came the sound of workers moving things, which meant that Claire was hiding somewhere in this ancient house.

Oldman was furious. He seemed to have been tricked. If it wasn't for the antiques in the old mansion that made him interested, he would have walked away.

Through the mouth of the housekeeper, he learned that Claire suffers from a strange disease called agoraphobia, and she has never seen strangers.

She has always been locked in the secret room of the ancient house, and even the housekeeper has never seen her in person.

This enigmatic Claire makes Oldman extremely interested because he is a very lonely person himself.

The two began to talk and communicate about the auction, but unlike ordinary people, they were always separated by a thick wall when they talked.

Occasionally, though, Oldman could see a mysterious eye through a hole in the wall.

Time can adjust everything, and Oldman's feelings for Claire slowly change.

He started caring about Claire, and even broke his habit for her.

Driven by curiosity, Oldman lost his restraint as a gentleman. He decided to peep at Claire to see what this mysterious customer looked like...

Video Analysis

This movie is elegant and advanced, the rhythm is slow but attractive, and the director uses a suspenseful coat to wrap a very beautiful love story, which is very worth watching.

I like the shots in it very much, just like the famous paintings in the film, they are very delicate and intoxicatingly beautiful.

The director is very interesting about the setting of the protagonist's name: Virgil Oldman, the last word of Virgil is replaced by n, and then translated into Chinese, it means a virgin, and Oldman translated into Chinese means an old man, which means that the director wants to tell us that our male protagonist is an "old man". Virgin", and the story revolves around him.

In the eyes of onlookers, Oldman is a successful man. As a top connoisseur auctioneer who is over 500 years old, he has the pinnacle of skills in painting appreciation. The so-called Dugu seeks defeat, such people are often very lonely of. He is arrogant, irritable, difficult to get along with, and has serious cleanliness, but reality tells us that many people's strong appearance is just a disguise.

Oldman is not good at socializing, and he hardly says a word to others outside of work, and his daily pleasure is just looking at the portraits of beautiful women who take advantage of his position in his spare time. This just shows that Oldman is extremely eager for the company of women, but he has a serious social phobia. "When shaking hands with Robert's girlfriend, he didn't even dare to look at each other." In addition, he grew up in an orphanage and was withdrawn. Make it difficult for him to be like ordinary people. In fact, what people reject on the surface is often what they want to get.

Therefore, Oldman in the movie hates mobile phones, talks with Billy about money only, and treats others arrogantly, all of which just shows that Oldman needs these very much. People only get used to being alone, they don't like being alone.

The development of the later movies also confirmed that real happiness and happiness will not come from things that do not exist in the virtual world, but from the exchange of emotions and inner feelings between people.

We can clearly see Oldman's transformation in the movie, and even see it firsthand when we first fell in love. We will change some of our inherent habits for the other party, we will mention her inadvertently when talking to our friends, we will feel sad when the surprise we are looking forward to is rejected, and there will be peace of mind that we finally wait for the other party to call after a quarrel. For most people, the first love will not be happy, but it is the most memorable, because that feeling of looking forward to the unknown is unforgettable.

"Every fake has a real side", and the same is true of love. Some people will question whether the other party has loved them after breaking up, and some people will even ask the other party to return some property when they break up, but the most memorable thing in love is a beautiful moment when the two met, The experience at that time is the most precious, and maybe you thought at that time: I am willing to pay all the price for it.

"Human emotions are like works of art, which can be faked. They look like genuine works, but they are actually fakes. Everything can be faked." Only love, at a certain moment, it must be revealed.
